Highlights: Glasgow City 2-2 Celtic

Leaders Glasgow City and reigning champions Celtic scored two classy goals each as the top two in the Scottish Women's Premier League could not be separated in a high-quality encounter at Petershill Park.

Locked on 50 points at the summit, with City only in front on goal difference, an exciting game was predicted - and it delivered.

Celtic striker Amy Gallacher – who scored the goal to secure her side's maiden league title last season – opened the scoring with a sweet strike after only 45 seconds to stun the home support.

While that was a lovely, cushioned effort, home defender Amy Muir's driven strike took a slight nick on the way through to beat Kelsey Daugherty and haul Leanne Ross' side level.

City came from behind 12 days ago against Celtic to knock them out of the Scottish Cup and, again, the Petershill Park outfit turned the game on its head five minutes after their equaliser.

It was a moment of magic, too, as forward Nicole Kozlova lasered a shot across goal that zipped past Daugherty.

Half-time was required for all to catch a breath, including the impressive crowd of 983.

Celtic came out with renewed determination and, after home striker Brenna Lovera missed a good chance to extend the lead, midfielder Maria McAneny curled in a sensational strike, leaving City goalkeeper Lee Gibson rooted to the spot.

The Scotland international was, though, alert to claw away Luana Munoz's close-range header before spectacularly denying Natalie Ross' fierce effort from distance.

As snow started to fall, both sides struggled to carve out the killer blow and Rangers and Hibernian - who are both three points behind – can join the top two on the same points tally when they play on Sunday in this incredibly tight title race.

What they said

Glasgow City head coach Leanne Ross: "I think it was a really good, competitive game from two teams fighting it out for the title.

"It was close, as I said it was going to be at the start of the game. It's a difficult opponent and still a lot to play for in the title race.

"In the second half, we had a lot of sustained pressure on the Celtic goal but not that killer touch to get the three points."

Celtic head coach Elena Sadiku: "I'm proud of the players. I want to give Glasgow City a compliment because how they scored the goals was amazing.

"I was frustrated we were losing at half-time because I didn't think that was how the game played out. I thought we were the better team.

"We always want to win and that was the focus. I feel like we were pushing. I don't think they were too dangerous in front of goal and we should have done better."
