Natalia Wrobel pounced on Jenna Fife's error to put Glasgow City in front

Natalia Wrobel's hat-trick took dominant Glasgow City top of the SWPL and two points clear of opponents Rangers.

Wrobel twice capitalised on mistakes to score in blustery conditions and added an opportunistic third against the pre-match leaders, who sustained their first league defeat of the season.

Sam van Dieme almost turned into her own net as Rangers mounted an early attack. City responded with Wrobel shooting high in an attempt to use the wind but her shot drifted over.

Rangers' Nicola Docherty and Glasgow's Emily Whelan required treatment after their heads came into collision but both were able to continue.

The opener came when Jenna Fife ran out of her box to clear Kimberley Smit's long ball with Rangers team-mates in close proximity and Wrobel pounced on the goalkeeper's miscue to lift the ball into the net.

Wrobel tested Fife early in the second half but beat her once again following another defensive slip-up. Kathy Hill's clearance from an Amy Muir cross was short and fell kindly for Wrobel to strike.

And Wrobel was alert again after another Muir delivery from the left was helped on by Brenna Lovera, holding off defenders to bury a shot beyond Fife.

It could have been four, with Fife making a stunning stave to deny Lovera at close range.
