Mansfield produced a superb performance to beat Peterborough 4-2 in League One.

With relegation worries lifted, the Stags' sparkling first-half display saw them go in 3-0 ahead at the interval for the second time against Posh this season.

Will Evans completed his brace in the second half as the Stags ended their six-match losing run.

The scoring started in the fourth minute when Dom Dwyer set up George Maris for a close-range finish off the inside of the near post.

Three minutes later the ball ran loose from a Jordan Bowery tackle and Keanu Baccus lifted in a finish from the edge of the box.

Debutant 21-year-old home goalkeeper Owen Mason saved from Gustav Lindgren before a low Malik Mothersille cross passed through everyone and hit the far post as Posh tried to hit back.

But it was 3-0 after 34 minutes as Louis Reed crossed for Evans to loop home a header.

Posh pulled one back after 51 minutes when Jordan Bowery half-cleared Chris Conn-Clarke's cross to Ryan de Havilland on the edge of the box and he sent a low finish inside the left post.

But eight minutes later Evans curled home a superb 25-yard finish from Stephen Quinn's pass.

Lindgren hit the crossbar with 10 minutes left but made no mistake in the 87th minute when he swept home Abraham Odoh's pass but it was too little too late for Posh.
