More records: Blues equalled the most number of wins in a season tonight, 33, set by Doncaster in 1946-7. A win against Cambridge this weekend will add that one too!

    FT: Blackpool 0-2 Birmingham

Read it and weep, Royals fans.

A win against Blackpool sees Birmingham City secure a minimum of 108 points, two points above Reading previous EFL points record.

On Saturday, Championship-bound Blues travel to League Two's new addition Cambridge United to see if they can push their overall tally to a nice looking 111.

Can't have a stellar season and not end it on a win, can you?

Chris Davies, Manager of Birmingham City applauds fansImage source, Rex Features

Chris Davies, with his fist clenched, goes and hugs defender Ben Davies.

The Blues manager walked towards the travelling fans to show his appreciation, as he does after every game.

The anticipation builds among the travelling fans and he gives the classic fist punch into the air - three waves and a punch.

From day one, after all this club has been through in the last 10 years, each and every victory you get you celebrate.

  5. 'It is incredible and well deserved'published at 21:45 British Summer Time 30 April

    FT: Blackpool 0-2 Birmingham City

    Darren Carter
Ex-Birmingham midfielder on BBC Radio WM

It is incredible and well deserved, and the fans deserve it as well. They have witnessed history tonight.

To go and put in the performance that they did tonight was great as a lot of teams would have just seen this as just ticking off the games.

Not this group of players or this manager - Chris Davies demands more and he wants more and wants to break the records.

When you say it, '108 points' it is really incredible to think this team has amassed that over the season and it is fitting they have come on the road, been dominant, fantastic with the ball, scored two goals but then shown real grit at the end of it to preserve that clean sheet.

  6. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:38 British Summer Time 30 April

    Mansfield 4-2 Peterborough

Mansfield had four put past them at the weekend and now they make amends to those fans who travelled by putting four past Peterborough.

Posh scored twice in their hunt to get back on level pegging but the result was never in doubt - especially after Will Evans' stunning second-half strike for the hosts.

Mansfield have finally found that win they've been craving while Peterborough starve for a sixth successive match.

Poised and controlled performance - as if the game had nothing on the line.

But it did for the cool-headed Blues side, who now hold the EFL record for the most points gained across a single season after breezing to a 2-0 win against Blackpool.

Ethan Laird and Alfie May got themselves on the scoresheet for a historic game in a historic season for the West Midlands side - and they've got one last game to celebrate further and push their tally even higher.

  8. 'A lot better by Blackpool'published at 21:35 British Summer Time 30 April

    Blackpool 0-2 Birmingham City

    Steve Thompson
Former Blackpool assistant manager on BBC Radio Lancashire

It is a lot better by Blackpool this half and that could be because Birmingham have let their foot off the gas.

But they have defended well in the second half, considering the changes Birmingham have made.

From half-time we thought it could be a long second half, but Blackpool have stayed in the game.

  9. INJURY TIMEpublished at 90 mins

    Blackpool 0-2 Birmingham City

    Four minutes left to go.

The EFL record belongs to Birmingham City. Just a matter of time now.

  10. Postpublished at 90 mins

    Blackpool 0-2 Birmingham City

Albie Morgan's trying his luck from distance in a desperate bid to find anything.

Blues keeper Ryan Allsop dives for it, unnecessarily, and everyone in the stands knows it.

It's going well wide of target and Allsop is just trying to rub salt into a wounded night.

  11. goal

GOAL: Mansfield 4-2 Peterboroughpublished at 21:30 British Summer Time 30 April

    Gustav Lindgren (87 mins)

If it's too little, too late for Blackpool - can the same be said for Peterborough?

Gustav Lindgren has pulled another back for the visitors but in the 87th minute.

With two goals still standing in-between them and a draw, it feels like the writing is on the wall for Darren Ferguson's men.

  12. 'Blackpool fans are too little, too late'published at 21:28 British Summer Time 30 April

    Blackpool 0-2 Birmingham City

    Darren Carter
Ex-Birmingham midfielder on BBC Radio WM

The Blackpool crowd behind the goal have finally started to create an atmosphere.

It only took them 75 minutes and the Blackpool players have responded to that.

It looks like it is too little, too late.

Re Anon (21:09). Birmingham spent £4m each on Klarer and Willumsson and between 800k and £1.5m on six others including Alsop and Cochrane. Low key for Premier League but insane for third tier.

    Blackpool 0-2 Birmingham City

Another Blackpool corner. They are getting few more glimpses in these later stages.

It's whipped in by Albie Morgan but, while Jake Beesley is first to rise, he can't quite control his header into the net.

It goes wide and the chance goes begging.

  15. 'Blackpool are having a go now'published at 21:26 British Summer Time 30 April

    Blackpool 0-2 Birmingham City

    Richard Wilford
    BBC Radio WM commentator

Alfie May has come off and Blues have gone with the extra defender in Grant Hanley.

Blackpool are having a go now, but this game doesn't strike you as the kind of game that requires another defender.

  16. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 83 mins

    Blackpool 0-2 Birmingham City

No second goal for Alfie May tonight.

He's off for defender Grant Hanley to see the game out.

Odeluga Offiah is also done for Blackpool, with Jordan Lawrence-Gabriel arriving in his stead.

  17. Postpublished at 78 mins

    Blackpool 0-2 Birmingham City

A Blackpool corner, just their second.

Albie Morgan delivers and it doesn't go anywhere. No, really anywhere.

Instead, it meanders out to the other side of the white lines on the right for Jay Stansfield and Niall Ennis to tussle over.

Ennis wins the call from the referee, but like their corner, they aren't able to take their free-kick to good effect.

Might be an overall pts record for EFL, but it's League One, that's way below the Championship level. The mighty Royals record from 2005-06 still stands. Doesn't count.

    Blackpool 0-2 Birmingham City

Birmingham grab themselves a corner and the knuckles of the home supporters around the ground must turn white.

It's swung in and Alfie May tries to control it when it lands at his feet.

He tries to take it in the air on the turn, helped along by a light nod from Jay Stansfield, but it takes a nick and lands softly into keeper Harry Tyrer's gloves.

Birmingham look so threatening on the break and they have got the pace.

Jay Stansfield and Alfie May are not the biggest, but they are are sharp and smooth and their interplay always causes issues for defenders.
