  11. NI 'have to bounce back' against Bosnia - Andrewspublished at 17:55 British Summer Time 3 June

    Bosnia-Herzegovina v Northern Ireland (18:00 BST)

Northern Ireland midfielder Joely Andrews said that her side "have to bounce back" against Bosnia-Herzegovina after their disappointing Women's Nations League defeat against Poland.

At Seaview on Friday night Tanya Oxtoby's side suffered a 4-0 loss against Poland, who secured automatic promotion to League A with the win in north Belfast.

NI are second in the group and will secure that spot and a place in the promotion play-offs if they avoid defeat in Zenica on Tuesday, which Andrews says has to be their aim.

"If we finish a place higher in this group [NI finished third in their previous Nations League campaign] it will be progress," she said.

"We are looking for a good performance and ultimately to get three points on Tuesday.

"Us and Bosnia know each other inside out, we've played each other a few times so it will be tough, but we need to be hard to break down but good on the ball and create chances."

Tonight's game with Bosnia-Herzegovina feels like it could be one of the most defining of Tanya Oxtoby's era as Northern Ireland manager.

Their hopes of securing a League A promotion play-off are in their own hands, and there has been constant talk that this side are determined to make that next step.

However, while there have been signs of progression in this campaign, if they fall to a defeat in Zenica then it will feel like two steps forward and one step back and talk of momentum will have suffered a blow.

Although Northern Ireland have defeated the Bosnians in all three outings, they got away with one in February's match between the sides, and were also pushed in the Euro 2025 qualifier in Zenica last year.

It's going to be a fine line for Northern Ireland to tread, and it will be a night for the leaders in the team to stand tall and guide this youthful squad through.

  14. Northern Ireland's job 'certainly not done' - Oxtobypublished at 17:45 British Summer Time 3 June

    Bosnia-Herzegovina v Northern Ireland (18:00 BST)

Tanya Oxtoby says her Northern Ireland side know the "job's certainly not done" in the Nations League.

Northern Ireland travel to Bosnia-Herzegovina knowing a win or draw would secure a promotion play-off with a League A side.

However, a defeat would open up a number of permutations with the Bosnians just three points behind Oxtoby's side in Group B1.

NI have won all three meetings with Bosnia-Herzegovina in the past year, including a dramatic 3-2 win in the reverse Nations League fixture in February.

"We by no means expect to just turn up here and the result be ours," said Oxtoby.

"We need to make sure that we are fully focused and that we go 100mph after it."

Oxtoby admitted it had been a "tough campaign" and a promotion play-off against a League A side would be a good reward for the work they have put in.

Republic of Ireland v Slovenia (18:00 BST)

Emily Murphy's 89th-minute goal completed a comeback victory for the Republic of Ireland against Turkey to keep their chances of finishing top of Women's Nations League Group B2 alive.

Kader Hancar had put the hosts in Istanbul ahead nine minutes after the restart following a first half of few chances.

However two goals in the final 10 minutes, the first an own goal from Busem Seker before Murphy's dramatic winner, means that the Republic of Ireland remain three points behind group leaders Slovenia.

The Slovenians will now travel to Cork for deciding game against the Republic of Ireland, with Carla Ward knowing that if her side are victorious and can better their head-to-head record, they can secure top spot.

Slovenia won 4-0 at home when the two sides met in February.

  17. We get smacked in the face and rebound - NI boss Oxtobypublished at 17:36 British Summer Time 3 June

    Bosnia-Herzegovina v Northern Ireland (18:00 BST)

"We get smacked in the face a little bit and rebound really well."

Head coach Tanya Oxtoby perfectly summed up Northern Ireland's Nations League campaign after Friday's 4-0 home defeat by Poland.

Looking at their five games so far, two things stand out: errors and resilience.

One fails to exist without the other and while the former has plagued them and cost them in quite a few games, the latter has offered hope for the future.

Looking at errors first, the two goals conceded in defeat in Gdansk in their first game were preventable.

In the win against Bosnia-Herzegovina, Emina Ekic's solo run and finish came after the Northern Ireland defence stood off her.

The less said about Mihaela Ciolacu's equaliser in the 1-1 draw in Romania the better, as she had an easy finish after Ellie Mason and Rachel Dugdale left the clearance to each other and both missed it.

Then on Friday night, the clinical Ewa Pajor burst between two defenders to prod home the opener, Jackie Burns gifted her a second, and Northern Ireland failed to clear their lines to allow Paulina Tomasiak to score a third before half-time.

However, Oxtoby's side have shown an ability to react to setbacks.

They didn't crumble in Gdansk, they fought back to beat Bosnia, and after the frustration in Bucharest they produced their best display of the campaign to beat Romania 1-0 at home.

Oxtoby hopes her side can once again dip into their reserves of resilience in Tuesday's crucial game against Bosnia in Zenica, where a win would hand NI a promotion play-off place.

"I don't have any doubt in my mind we'll perform on Tuesday," she said.
