  1. Republic of Ireland 'know what we have to do' against Sloveniapublished at 17:22 British Summer Time 3 June

Republic of Ireland v Slovenia (18:00)

Republic of Ireland manager Carla Ward says her side "know what we have to do" in tonight's Nations League decider with Slovenia.

The Republic are second in Group B2 and three points behind Slovenia, who won 4-0 in the reverse fixture in February.

With head-to-head determining rankings between sides on level points, Ward's side need to match that scoreline or win by four clear goals to have any hope of automatic qualification.

Regardless of the result in Cork, the Republic are guaranteed second place at the very least and a promotion play-off with a League A.

"There are so many permutations but we've whittled it down - we need to win by four clear goals," said former Aston Villa manager Ward.

"That sets it up for an exciting game. I've heard a lot about the crowd here and good times. We'll be ready, we know what we have to do.

"We will have to be aggressive and also secure at the same time."

Ward added that defender Aoife Mannion is a "doubt, but not a major doubt" as her workload is managed, while Lucy Quinn will be assessed as she recovers from a virus.

Mannion, who has struggled with a number of injuries in recent seasons, came off at half-time in Friday's 2-1 comeback win in Turkey.

The game will take place at Pairc Ui Chaoimh, where the Republic stunned France in Euro 2025 qualifying last year.

McCabe has called for "more of the same" from the Irish support to try and get her side over the line.

"That France game will live with us for a long time," said the Arsenal Champions League winner.

"It was a fantastic crowd and a great day. It was a remarkable result against one of the best teams in the world, so we hope the fans come in their numbers to help get us over the line".

  2. What do Northern Ireland need in the Nations League?published at 17:19 British Summer Time 3 June

    Bosnia-Herzegovina v Northern Ireland (18:00 BST)

Northern Ireland's fate is still in their own hands heading into the final fixture.

That is largely down to their dramatic 3-2 win over the Bosnians at Inver Park in February.

In short, avoiding defeat in Zenica would be enough to secure second place and not bring any further permutations into play.

However, if Tanya Oxtoby's side were to lose, then we start moving down the checklist of tiebreakers.

While in other competitions it is goal difference that splits the sides, in the Nations League there is different criteria.

If teams are level on points, the first determining factor is the number of points in the matches between the sides.

In the event Bosnia-Herzegovina win, then it would be a victory apiece and goal difference in the two matches would be the determining factor.

If the Bosnians were to win by a two-goal margin or more then they would leapfrog Northern Ireland.

If things are still level after that, it comes down to goals scored in the two matches.

In the unlikely event the two sides cannot be separated at this point then overall goal difference in all six matches comes into play.

Bosnia-Herzegovina currently hold the advantage here on minus three, one better off than Northern Ireland.

As we said, the cleanest outcome is Northern Ireland win or draw on Tuesday, but the Nations League is known for its drama and there will be plenty of tension in the game.
