  1. How does Group K stand?published at 09:28 BST

    World Cup Qualifying group K

Could England be the first to qualify from the European section?

Well, with five wins from five and a vastly superior goal difference, they are well on course to finish top of Group K and secure automatic qualification for the 2026 World Cup finals.

Who will finish runners-up - and claim a place in the play-offs - is less clear.

Albania are currently in second place, four points above third-placed Serbia, but having played a game more.

England's final two matches are against Serbia and Albania, so even if they secure qualification with victory in Latvia tonight, they could still have an important part to play in the battle for the play-off spot.

It's entirely possible that the team will not be much changed from Thursday against Wales but of course, the target, the goal, is all too clear after the result in Serbia on Saturday where Albania won there.

England know they can get the job done here and it's possible they can be the first European team to clinch qualification for next year's World Cup, depending on results over the course of the next couple days.

So that's the clear target - qualification.

  4. How can England qualify for 2026 World Cup?published at 09:13 BST

    England

So England are one win away from securing their spot at the 2026 World Cup finals in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Serbia's 1-0 defeat by Albania on Saturday means Thomas Tuchel's side can qualify by winning in Latvia tonight, with two matches of their campaign still to play.

The Three Lions have won all five of their Group K fixtures to date without conceding a goal.

A point in Latvia would mean a draw at home to Serbia (13 November) in their penultimate qualifier would all but secure their spot because England have a vastly better goal difference than second-placed Albania.

England travel to Albania for their final group fixture on 16 November.
