England boss Thomas Tuchel: "The last camp was only three and a half weeks ago and the team work and spirit was on the highest level. That is why we decided to invite the same group to this camp.

"There are players out who deserve to be with us and they can get back in through performance. This is the best and most straightforward decision."

"The question is also why not to pick the same players? Why not if they are not injured," says Tuchel.

Tuchel is asked why Myles Lewis-Skelly is selected despite his limited minutes with Arsenal. He says going forward "just being a good citizen in the camp won't be enough".

He adds, "he was part of a very good camp [last time] so he gets the credit for that".

Players not in the squad "just need to keep pushing" adds Tuchel.

He reiterates that the last camp "was the best camp so far" so "we invited the same players to build on that".

"There are some players who deserve to be with us, but for this camp we wanted to make it a straightforward decision and stay with the same group."

Tuchel says "Bellingham always deserves to be in the camp" but "he has not fully gathered his rhythm at Real Madrid" and has only started one match so is not back to full strength.

He adds he had a phone call with Bellingham who "wanted to be called up".

Tuchel says team spirit in the last camp was at an all-time high and that's why he has made minimal chances.

He says there's a way back for players not in the squad, "100%".

But at the moment "this is the best and most straightforward decision".

  13. 'Anderson looked so calm and mature'published at 10:59 BST

Elliot Anderson excelled in the 5-0 win over Serbia and that meant Declan Rice could play further forward. He was probably the most impressive performer after only first coming into the squad in September.

He looked so calm and mature. It looks like that is his position which is harsh on Adam Wharton, who pulled out of the last squad.

Just to reply to Stephen who said friendlies are for experimenting .There is no time for experimenting. Tuchel has little time to bring the squad together before the World Cup and wants to build on the last 5-0 good performance - not much room for change at this late stage

Another big surprise, comes in the absence of Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, who has made an outstanding start to the season and played a key role in the Eagles' outstanding 19-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

Wharton has played five of Palace's six league matches this campaign but missed their game with Sunderland with a groin injury three weeks ago.

Why is Jordan Henderson in the squad instead of Adam Wharton? Wharton is by far a much better player. He is consistently a forward looking player whereas Henderson plays backwards and sideways. This makes no sense to me.

All the talk of Grealish but not no one has mentioned his team mates James Garner or Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall who have both been in great form for the Toffees so far this season. James Garner especially has easily been one of our best players, he definitely deserved a call up.

All the talk is about how little time Tuchel actually has with the squad before next year’s World Cup - so why keep leaving out players like Foden for a big chunk of that crucial time? Almost like he has made up his mind on Foden already, which is crazy
