All the talk is about how little time Tuchel actually has with the squad before next year’s World Cup - so why keep leaving out players like Foden for a big chunk of that crucial time? Almost like he has made up his mind on Foden already, which is crazy

  3. 'A squad of continuity'published at 10:44 BST

Since he has become England manager, Thomas Tuchel said he wants to create a club feel.

This squad is the biggest example we have seen of that. If a club team had won 5-0 then they would keep the same team.

The biggest shock is no Jude Bellingham and that lends itself to some bigger questions. The timing is not great because he apologised for calling him repulsive.

Now he is back fit, we don't know the conversation those two have had. Morgan Rodgers is someone who Tuchel is a big fan of.

    A squad of continuity.

People complaining about Henderson when he's got joint-least goals conceded is crazy. England managers can't win with their squads.

Jordan Henderson, 35, is named in another Thomas Tuchel squad. His leadership has been highlighted in the past and his form with Brentford has been strong.

Elliot Anderson impressed for England when he made his debut in September and is rewarded.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek was added to the September squad and retains his spot.

Morgan Rodgers is in again and has been a key performer under Tuchel. Declan Rice and Morgan Gibbs-White are also in.

You wonder which one would have dropped out if Jude Bellingham had more games under his belt?

This squad should blow away Wales and our qualifying group. But they aren't who we should be benchmarking against. Spain, France, Argentina may be a tougher challenge.

Sorry... James Trafford over Nick Pope. Am I missing something...??

We can all be an England manager in our heads and we all would make different choices. Bottom line is, none of us have got a clue really! We just have to trust the manager and hope we do well. Five wins out of six games remember!

  9. In-form Grealish misses outpublished at 10:25 BST

Jack Grealish leads the list for the most chances created this season (17) in the Premier League.

After the England squad was announced, his current club Everton were quick to recirculate that impressive stat, external, in a social media post.

Grealish, who is on loan from Manchester City, has been open about enjoying the freedom he has been given under David Moyes.

He has never been called up to an England squad while Thomas Tuchel has been in charge.

Sticking with a team that won their last game 5-0 away against their closest group rivals; what’s the sense in that? Clear-minded Tuchel, well done.

Pope should get a call up. He's been brilliant for Newcastle so far this season.

Absolutely understand Bellingham being left out as he is only just coming back from injury. However, Foden and Grealish not being in the squad after the way they are playing is absolutely bonkers!

  13. Just two changes to England squad that ended last breakpublished at 10:16 BST

    Alex Howell
BBC Sport football reporter at Wembley Stadium

Thomas Tuchel has made just three changes to the overall England squad that ended the last international window.

Bukayo Saka is in for the injured Noni Madueke, Jarell Quansah who was a late call up last time is in for Tino Livramento and Ruben Loftus-Cheek keeps his place after being a replacement for Adam Wharton who is back fit.

Tuchel has made clear through this window that he wants to make it a club feel and this is probably the most we have seen him stick to that.

England had their best performance under him last time out and the England manager does not want to disrupt that.

The biggest talking point is that there is no Jude Bellingham who is back fit and playing for Real Madrid.

There could be a case that Tuchel is protecting Bellingham as he returns to full fitness but it comes after the England boss had to apologise to Bellingham to referring to his behaviour as repulsive the day after the defeat to Senegal in June.

  14. Why is Bellingham not in the squad?published at 10:15 BST

Jude Bellingham has only played four matches for Real Madrid this season, returning to competitive football on September 20 following a shoulder injury which required surgery in July.

Bellingham had been expected to be available for England's upcoming matches against Wales on 9 October and Latvia on 14 October (both 19:45 BST).

Potentially Tuchel is resting one of his star midfielders.

How is there space for Henderson and not Bellingham with so little time to the WC?! If you want Jordan’s influence just make him a coach but let’s get our best players in the squad please.

No form players, just the same names, Tuchel being safe, Henderson and Burn for example should be nowhere near this squad. What has Jack Grealish got to do to get a look in, friendlies should be used for experimenting
