Summary

  1. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:50 British Summer Time 9 August

    Crusaders 3-2 Carrick Rangers

    Goals...goals...and more goals!

Crusaders were 3-0 up but gave away two quick goals and it is now all to play for in the second half. Carrick manager Stephen Baxter will be revitalised.

I, on the other hand, am now off for a lie down for 15 minutes.

  2. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 9 August

    Glenavon 0-1 Ballymena United

That Donal Rocks goal five minutes before the break will hopefully bring a fresh spark to a game which, up until that point, had more of an end-of-season feel to it rather than an opening day fixture.

What sort of response can Paddy McLaughlin's side muster after the break?

  3. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 9 August

    Portadown 0-1 Glentoran

And that's the whistle for half-time.

You'd have to say that's a real sucker punch for the Ports, who have had the better of the game with some big chances for Eamon Fyfe and Josh Ukek.

The visitors, on the other hand, have taken the lead completely against the run of play. Not that the away support will care one bit.

That was a super cross and a hell of a good finish from Amos.

  6. goal

GOAL - Portadown 0-1 Glentoranpublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 9 August

    Danny Amos (42 mins)

Well, you really didn't see that coming!

Completely against the run of play, Declan Devine's men have taken the lead. Jordan Jenkins with a superb cross from the right, and the ball eventually falls perfectly for Danny Amos, who absolutely rifles it home from close range.

  7. CLOSE!published at 15:46 British Summer Time 9 August

    Crusaders 3-2 Carrick Rangers

    How is it not 3-3?

Musa Dibaga pulls off a wonder save from a close-range Luke McCullough effort when it looked certain to hit the net.

What entertainment the fans have had today, and we are still in the first half.

  8. Postpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 9 August

    Portadown 0-0 Glentoran

That's a lovely bit of play from Niall Currie's men.

James Teelan finds Eamon Fyfe in the middle, who then switches it nicely out to Josh Ukek on the left.

The winger drives at Ryan Cooney and has a pop at the far top corner... It's miles over the bar, but you can't fault him for trying.

  9. goal

GOAL - Crusaders 3-2 Carrick Rangerspublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 9 August

    Danny Gibson (41 mins)

I am quickly running out of superlatives here in north Belfast.

Moments after Jack Scott's penalty, Carrick are back in this one!

Joe Crowe with a delivery from the left that floated over Musa Dibaga in goal and rebounded off the crossbar. The ball was then nodded towards goal by Luke McCullough and poked home by Gibson from a yard.

  10. goal

GOAL - Glenavon 0-1 Ballymena Unitedpublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 9 August

    Donal Rocks - 40mins

The deadlock is broken and it's the visitors who are ahead.

Ballymena work the ball on the left hand side and Matthew Clarke stands up a lovely cross to the back post where Donal Rocks appears from midfield to guide it home.

  13. goal

GOAL - Crusaders 3-1 Carrick Rangerspublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 9 August

    Jack Scott (37 mins)

It may be sunny up above, but at Seaview it is raining goals.

    Carrick throw themselves a lifeline.

Elliot Dunlop dilly-dallies out of his own box and is pick-pocketed by Aidan Steele who goes down in the process.

Mark Dillon points to the spot. Up steps Jack Scott to slot home.

  14. YELLOW CARDpublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 9 August

    Glenavon 0-0 Ballymena United

Matthew Clarke's full-length slide catches Paul McGovern and the Ballymena defender picks up a yellow card as a result.

  15. Postpublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 9 August

    Portadown 0-0 Glentoran

Nice little one-two in midfield between Josh Ukek and Eamon Fyfe, but just as Fyfe tries to slide James Teelan through on goal, Daniel Larmour’s alive to it and steps across to cut out the danger.

  16. Postpublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 9 August

    Crusaders 3-0 Carrick Rangers

    David Jeffrey
Former Larne, Linfield & Ballymena manager on BBC Sport NI

Crusaders have been fantastic and the difference has been the pace and penetration. They have been very direct but not the way we have seen Crusaders before, everything is on the ground.

  17. goal

GOAL - Crusaders 3-0 Carrick Rangerspublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 9 August

    Finley Thorndike (32 mins)

Adam Brooks turns provider as Crusaders threaten to run riot.

Brooks beats the offside trap to scamper clear before he unselfishly slides the ball to his right, allowing Thorndike the easiest of finishes into an empty net. Super stuff from the Crues.

  18. Watch: Brooks makes it two for Crusaderspublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 9 August

    Crusaders 2-0 Carrick Rangers

Adam Brooks marks his Crues debut with a goal to double the home side's lead.

  19. Postpublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 9 August

    Portadown 0-0 Glentoran

Chants of “we forgot you were here” roll around Shamrock Park from the home fans towards the away end - and you can understand why.

Declan Devine’s men haven’t given their supporters much to shout about so far.

  20. Postpublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 9 August

    Glenavon 0-0 Ballymena United

Ballymena's first decent chance almost leads to a goal as Ben Kennedy collects a low cross from Calvin McCurry and, with his back to goal, tries a clever backheel which hits the side netting.

The Ballymena support on the far side of the ground believe it's a goal - no such luck on this occasion.
