    Brighton 2-0 Leicester

Leicester manager Rick Passmoor looks very concerned on the bench here.

His side are heading for just one win from their opening nine games, and with Liverpool and West Ham currently picking up points the Foxes are being sucked towards the bottom of the WSL.

  2. goal

GOAL - Brighton 2-0 Leicesterpublished at 13:07 GMT 16 November

    Maelys Mpome (47 mins)

A perfect start to the second half for Brighton!

Good passing interplay from the Seagulls outside the Leicester area, before centre back Maelys Mpome arrives just in time to place an excellent side footed finish home from 18 yards.

Huge uphill task for Leicester now.

Quick correction: The Villa booking right at the end of the first half was for Miri Taylor, not Noelle Maritz.

  6. Margins finer than ever in north London?published at 13:04 GMT 16 November

European champions Arsenal head into the north London derby this afternoon with the history books weighted heavily in their favour, having won nine of their 11 previous WSL meetings with Spurs.

However glancing at the table, the margins in north London may just be getting smaller.

While Tottenham may sit behind them, the Lilywhites (5) have actually won more games than Arsenal this term (4).

They also have the chance to surpass them in the standings with a second-ever derby day triumph, and in doing so they could land a potential knockout blow to the Gunners' title ambitions.

With Liverpool playing so high, why won't Chelsea put a long ball over the top? They have the pace out wide. Bright and Bjorn are obsessed with playing out short from the back, into midfield and have played into trouble so often.

Martin Ho congratulates his players after a positive resultImage source, Getty Images

Tottenham boss Martin Ho believes that they can break into the Women’s Super League top three this season.

"We know it’s obviously a big ask to go into that top three, it is a small group that go into the Champions League, but I believe if we get things right, we can," said Ho in his pre-match press conference.

Spurs currently sit fifth in the table on 15 points, though they would leapfrog Arsenal and Manchester United into third spot with a win in the north London derby today.

"I haven’t come here just to take part. I want to make sure I can progress this team and help us achieve our ambitions, " Ho added.

"We want to keep ourselves in around that top three and that’s the most important part now until we get to the Christmas break."

A very good first half. I still think Chelsea have got more to give. I don't think they'll be happy with themselves but for Liverpool, I'd be going into half-time a very happy player.

Gareth Taylor will be a very happy manager. It's one of those things where we've sat here like this at half-time for Liverpool and then come out at the end of the game and it's commiserations to them. I hope Gareth is telling them that and that for them, it stays like this at full-time.

  10. HALF-TIMEpublished at 12:51 GMT 16 November

Aston Villa 1-1 London City Lionesses

Controversy at Villa Park, where the half time whistle goes as the home side were on the attack.

Noelle Maritz is booked for her protests at that decision.

  11. HALF-TIMEpublished at 12:50 GMT 16 November

    Brighton 1-0 Leicester

We were only due to have one minute of stoppage time at Brighton, but the first half is still going after Leicester defender Sari Kees needed treatment following a ball to the head.

She's ok, and shortly after play resumes the whistle goes.

Arsenal boss Renee Slegers is expecting a “high risk, high reward” game when her side plays in the north London derby this afternoon.

The Gunners sit fourth in the table, level on points with neighbours Tottenham but with a superior goal difference.

"It's a high-risk-high-reward game for both teams. So we have a couple of different strategies," said Slegers in her pre-match news conference. "I think we've developed our options and our cohesion as a team as well when teams press us high."

She added, “[Spurs] are more aggressive in the way they play. They go high, they go player for player, they want to win balls in the opposition half and that’s different from what they did last year."

  13. HALF-TIMEpublished at 12:48 GMT 16 November

    West Ham 2-0 Everton

West Ham are 45 minutes away from their first WSL win of the season after goals from Anouk Denton, following an error from goalkeeper Emily Ramsey, and Amber Tysiak have the Hammers two up.

TV cameras spot Brighton men's star Kaoru Mitoma in the crowd at Amex Stadium.

The Japanese international will be pleased with what he has seen so far.

  15. HALF-TIMEpublished at 12:47 GMT 16 November

    Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea

All square in St Helens. Alyssa Thompson put Chelsea ahead after only eight minutes, before Beata Olsson equalised.

Chelsea had a glorious chance to restore their advantage, only for Catarina Macario to shoot wide from 10 yards out.

  16. CLOSE!published at 12:44 GMT 16 November

    Brighton 1-0 Leicester

Brighton come close to doubling their lead.

A flowing move down the left ends in Kiko Seike shooting into the side netting on the turn.

Brighton are sending plenty of players forward as they aim for a second goal before half time.

I don't think Chelsea have that fear factor anymore, I still think the depth is unbelievable but with Arsenal winning the Champions League, it gives confidence elsewhere.

Since Emma Hayes left Chelsea, I feel like everybody came for her and not necessarily the badge at that point. 100 per cent it's shown.

  18. goal

GOAL - West Ham 2-0 Evertonpublished at 41 mins

    Amber Tysiak

West Ham had only scored three goals all season in the WSL, now they have two in 10 minutes.

Amber Tysiak doubles the Hammers advantage by heading in from inside the penalty area from Viviane Asseyi's delivery.

The Hammers set to move off the bottom of the table as it stands.

  19. CLOSE!published at 12:42 GMT 16 November

    Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea

What a chance for Chelsea to regain their lead.

Johanna Ryttting Kaneryd's shot bounces off the body of Lily Woodham and falls perfectly for Catarina Macario. She takes a touch to set herself, but can then only send the shot wide from a central position 10 yards out.

Is there anyone that Millie Bright can actually catch? Having her as the last line of defence is a weakness for Chelsea.
