Liverpool play the offside trap very, very well. Chelsea will know that so will try and hold their runs.

  2. GREAT SAVE!published at 12:16 GMT 16 November

    Brighton 0-0 Leicester

Leicester have only won once in the league this season but have started well in Brighton.

Hannah Cain's looping cross to the far post is met with a left footed volley by Jutta Rantala, forcing a good reaction save by Chiamaka Nnadozie.

Chelsea have scored in their past 39 Women's Super League games and have scored eight goals in the first 15 minutes of the first half, more than any other team in the WSL this season.

The Blues have a record of six wins, two draws and no defeats when scoring the opening goal in the WSL this season, while Liverpool have lost on all three occasions when they have conceded the first goal.

  4. goal

GOAL - Aston Villa 0-1 London City Lionessespublished at 12:13 GMT 16 November

    Saki Kumagai (12 mins)

    Against the run of play!

A really poor goal to concede from Villa, who allow a Kosovare Asllani corner to bounce across the face of goal.

Lionesses midfielder Kumagai shows the most effort to get her head to the ball, and at the far post squeezes it in past the post.

Aston Villa 0-0 London City Lionesses

Kirsty Hanson has been in the centre of the action so far.

She gets a whack to the face from LCL's Wassa Sangare with a trailing arm, accidental but still painful for the Scot.

  6. 'Keeper had no chance'published at 12:10 GMT 16 November

    Liverpool 0-1 Chelsea

    Abbie McManus
Former Manchester United defender on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra at St Helens Stadium

Thompson was worth every penny for me, what a finish, cuts inside, puts it on her right foot and the keeper had no chance.

Chelsea went hunting then, a quick counter attack, Liverpool tried to play the offside but it was a great run.

    Alyssa Thompson

The champions hit the front after eight minutes, and this is a lovely goal.

Wieke Kaptein has the space and skill to run at the Reds defence and she plays it wide left to Alyssa Thompson. The American international is to the side of the penalty area, but is able to cut inside on to her right foot and curl a superb finish past the helpless Faye Kirby.

  8. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 12:08 GMT 16 November

Aston Villa 0-0 London City Lionesses

The closest we have come to a goal so far.

Villa pierce the Lionesses defence and Kirsty Hanson steers a shot on goal which bounces off the post and away.

  9. 'Great time for Peng'published at 12:08 GMT 16 November

    Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea

    Abbie McManus
Former Manchester United defender on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra at St Helens Stadium

Great time for Peng to stomp her authority. I know she probably signed with Chelsea to be number two but why not push, why not give Hannah Hampton something to work for?

Liverpool have put a few passes together, had the first corner of the game and are putting a little bit of pressure on Chelsea now.

  10. Postpublished at 12:07 GMT 16 November

    Brighton 0-0 Leicester

Leicester escape the Brighton press and cause chaos inside the home box, a low cross from the left is spilled by Chiamaka Nnadozie who needs to be helped out by her defence.

Heart in mouth moment for the Brighton fans inside the sparsely populated Amex Stadium today.

  11. Postpublished at 12:07 GMT 16 November

    West Ham 0-0 Everton

Good handling from Everton keeper Emily Ramsey under pressure from Shekiera Martinez to grab hold of the ball after a cross had been played in from the right. Amber Tysiak had almost got her head to the delivery, but the ball was just too far ahead of her.

  12. Postpublished at 12:05 GMT 16 November

Aston Villa 0-0 London City Lionesses

Villa have their first sight of goal through a corner, which is played short to the edge of the box with no Lionesses defender around.

Kirsty Hanson's fierce shot clatters into the midriff of Kosovare Asllani, the captain taking one for the team as she closed down. The veteran Swede is felled and probably winded, but she will be ok.

  13. Postpublished at 12:04 GMT 16 November

    West Ham 0-0 Everton

A first chance for winless West Ham but Viviane Asseyi can't make a clean connection and it is the most routine of saves for Everton's Emily Ramsey. Still, a bright start from the hosts.

  14. 'Liverpool need to ride out first 15'published at 12:03 GMT 16 November

    Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea

The only thing Liverpool need to do is ride out the first 15 minutes. No goals in the first 15 minutes and then they can put their gameplan to Chelsea.

Many of us home and away Hammers fans are wondering how Rehanne Skinner is still our manager? When you look at her record both here and at Spurs it points to someone who's had plenty of time to impress but has failed to do so. Which is being polite.

Aston Villa 0-0 London City Lionesses

There was a late change made to the Villa XI today.

Rachel Daly replaces Anna Patten, who goes to the bench due to illness.

A striker replacing a centre-back means Miri Taylor drops into the back line for Villa.

  17. Postpublished at 12:02 GMT 16 November

    Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea

An early chance for the champions, but Erin Cuthbert can't take advantage after being played in by Catarina Macario as the Scotland international can only drag an effort wide of the post from near the penalty spot.

    Brighton v Leicester (12.00 GMT)

    • After winning just one of their first five WSL meetings with Leicester City, Brighton and Hove Albion have since won two of their last three top-flight matches against the Foxes.
    • Brighton have lost just one of their last five Women’s Super League home games, though that defeat did come in their most recent via a 3-2 loss to Manchester United – the first time the Seagulls conceded three or more goals in a home league game since March 2024.
    • Brighton have trailed in each of their last four games, going on to lose three.
    • Fran Kirby (pictured) has been directly involved in six goals across her six appearances against Leicester in the Women’s Super League (four goals, two assists).
    • Leicester are without a win in their last 20 matches away from home in the WSL, and could set the longest winless run on the road in the history of the competition. The Foxes are currently level with Yeovil Town's run between April 2017 and February 2019.
