Wigan Athletic's home League One fixture against Huddersfield Town on New Year's Day has been postponed because of "severe localised flooding".
The playing surface at the Brick Community Stadium was deemed playable, but heavy rainfall overnight on Tuesday left the roads around the ground in treacherous condition.
The bad weather caused a strain on local emergency services dealing with a number of major incidents.
Access to the area is severely restricted, with many routes closed, and the emergency services are "unable to provide resources to support the matchday operation", a statement on the Wigan website said.
An update on the new date for the fixture will be announced in due course. All tickets for the game will remain valid for the rearrangement.
