The job is half done for Rangers, who have dominated while still not looking great at the back.

Nedim Bajrami's stunning opener gave them the perfect start, before Joe Rothwell's calamitous own goal gave Alloa an equaliser after good initial build up.

But they were only level for three minutes, as Emmanuel Fernandez powered in a header to restore Rangers' lead.

Steven Buchanan gets free down the right again, and delivers a brilliant cross for Luke Rankin but fortunately for Rangers Liam Kelly makes the save.

Rankin was offside anyway, but Buchanan wasn't. Rangers' left-hand side has been a bit exposed.

Speaking of which, Bailey Rice is forced off with an injury. He's been tidy on the ball playing out of position at left back, but defensively has been exposed.

It's a shame his game is over, though. James Tavernier is on.

Danilo is the type of striker who wants the ball into his feet.

Bajrami and Dowell making runs down the side takes midfielders away and that's what they need to look to do.

Nedim Bajrami works the ball on to his right foot and fires a shot on target, but Liam McFarlane makes a good save.

Kurtis Roberts tries to catch uout the Rangers goalkeeper Liam Kelly from miles out, he doesn't quite manage it but it was a decent effort.

Especially as Kelly had the sun in his eyes.

Ooft, Nasser Djija thumps one from 30 yards which Alloa keeper Liam McFarlane has to deal with, and he does so well enough.

Normal service has resumed after Alloa's equaliser. The League 1 side are struggling to get out of their own box at the moment.

One thing you can see right away from Mikey Moore is he's comfortable going on either side.

James: I think Rangers need to finish this game off early. Get this done by halftime and start thinking about Tuesday. Can’t remember the last time Rangers achieved that against lesser opposition.

Tom: Rangers defending has been so bad for the last 3 seasons. We should have stuck with Barry Ferguson.

It's a really good goal.

He towers above everyone.

I've seen a brief replay and still don't really know how that ended up in the back of Rangers' net. It's really shocking defending.

The move from Alloa to get themselves the opportunity though was excellent.

I just don't understand what Djiga's doing.

He tries to run through three players and loses the ball. A bizarre goal for Rangers to lose, but huge credit to Alloa.

Wow, what a touch from Steven Buchanan to take down a long ball just outside the box. Sublime, with the sun shining in his eyes as well.

Even better, he drives inside and shoots on target with his left foot. It's a comfortable save for Liam Kelly, though.

Strangely there may have been a few nerves from some at Ibrox when they saw 10 changes to the team, given how that sometimes goes.

But Rangers have started with the right intensity about them. Alloa look really well coached, though, playing out from the back to some success.

That's when they get the chance.
