Ross County were able to celebrate back-to-back away wins

Aberdeen's winless run extended to nine games as Ross County recorded their second Scottish Premiership away victory in a row.

County, having previously gone 15 months without a win on the road, deservedly led thanks to Akil Wright's wonder strike from 30 yards amid a Pittodrie blizzard as Aberdeen struggled to adjust to the snow on the pitch.

However, the Dons were handed a first-half lifeline when Jordan Amissah fluffed his attempt to save Kevin Nisbet's free-kick and allowed the ball to squirm under his body and over the line.

Jimmy Thelin's side were buoyed by that leveller and started the second half on the front foot, with Duk inches away from scoring as his shot cannoned off the crossbar. On closer view, it looked like Amissah got a touch.

The goalkeeper was keen to make amends and produced two more fine saves to deny Nisbet and Angus MacDonald from close range.

Against the run of play, County scored what turned out to be the winner. Noah Chilvers picked up the ball in the left corner and was allowed to drift into the box and chip the ball over Ross Doohan, who was deputising for the injured Dimitar Mitov.

County remain 10th but move seven points away from bottom spot, while Aberdeen drop to fourth on goal difference after Dundee United's derby win.

Struggling Dons fail to make chances count

Aberdeen's current malaise is a bit of a headscratcher. They were not going to keep up their unbelievable early-season form, but the drop-off has been incredible.

There were, occasionally, signs of the team they were. At the start of the second half they were cutting County apart. At the end of the game too, they were pounding on the visitors' door.

But for long spells in between, the Dons struggled to click in attack. And in defence, they were all over the place for County's second goal.

Aberdeen are admittedly missing a few key players. Mitov is out for a few weeks with injury, Slobodan Rubezic and Sivert Heltne Nielsen both missed this defeat through suspension and Papa Gueye, who started the season in electric form, is still sidelined.

But for too long, Thelin's team struggled to impose themselves and on the whole, they missed far too many chances to blame anyone but themselves.

Aberdeen's woeful form - nine games without a win - is now threatening to ruin the stunning start of 31 points from 33.

County continue festive form with fine win

County's first-half display was largely superb and while Wright's strike - a goal of the season contender - was unusual in how it arrived, it was no less than they deserved.

Amissah's mistake was unfortunate. Nisbet's strike skidded along the surface in the snow, while it was genuinely hard to see the ball at times given the strength of the blizzard at Pittodrie.

The County goalkeeper was incredible in the second half, though, and any fears over where the County gloves lie were answered in his remaining performance.

Last season, County relied on the occasional magic of Yan Dhanda and this term they have Chilvers to depend upon. It's taken the midfielder a few months to find his feet but he is a dangerous player who cannot be given an inch by the opposition.

More importantly, County built on the confident performance they showed against Dundee a week ago. To win consecutive away games after 15 months with no victories on the road shows incredible resilience.

What they said

Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin: "The second half starts well. We have really, really good momentum and then we give them one chance and they score. After that we lose the rhythm. Then we have a little spark in the end to try to get an equaliser. We have some big chances there but it was not there for us today."

Ross County assistant manager Carl Tremarco: "Back-to-back away wins is very pleasing considering how long we waited to get them. The boys are pleased.

"The first half we were good, we were really disappointed to come in at 1-1. But it was a test of character. We had to ride our luck at times and we did it. We deserved it."
