Gary Madine wrapped up a comfortable win for Hartlepool over National League strugglers AFC Fylde at Victoria Park.
The hosts hit the woodwork through Mani Dieseruvwe but they opened the scoring on 70 minutes when Tom Parkes headed home a David Ferguson corner.
Fylde, whose manager Kevin Phillips was returning to Hartlepool for the first time since his sudden departure at the end of last season, had few chances to level.
And Hartlepool continued their push for the play-offs two minutes from time when Madine mopped up after Adam Campbell’s long-range effort crashed back off the post.
