Leicester City boss Ruud van Nistelrooy on taking the job and speaking to Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca: "When the first approach was there, you are going to think about the club, the set-up, the players, the training ground. You're curious about the people who work there and Enzo [Maresca], being a great friend and former team-mate, he was the first one to call. What better information could I get?

"When we played against each other in the Premier League - when I was Manchester United interim boss against Chelsea - we spoke for half an hour.

"I didn't know yet about Leicester but we spoke about it and he was already very positive [after managing them]. That only got better when I spoke to him.

"I have to say he was absolutely right, according to first impressions."

On Eze, Glasner said: "I think he’s OK to start again. He played 60 to 65 minutes. I think we could see that he didn’t have a lot of training in the weeks before, but on the other side he is important.

"He can create situations, he can always score a goal. He had one big chance, but that's untypical for him: a bad first touch, otherwise he would have had a big chance in the first-half. Physically, from his body, everything is fine."

With regards to the title race, if Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City can fall nine and 11 points behind, respectively, over 13 matches, it is highly possible for Liverpool to drop a similar number of points over 25 games. There's a long way to go yet. A very long way.

The Spurs roller-coaster shows now sign of slowing down or getting any less bumpy. They are the Premier League's top scorers with 28 goals, but sit only seventh in the league.

This was a particularly frustrating day for Ange Postecoglou, who saw his side withstand heavy pressure to take the lead - only to give it away.

Spurs are also heavily hampered by injuries, suspensions and lack of fitness, which saw Dejan Kulusevski start from the bench.

Kulusevski had created 33 Premier League chances going into this weekend, more than any other player, and had started 11 out of Spurs' 12 previous league matches.

But he started from the bench here, was sent on after Fulham's equaliser, and was little involved except to have Tom Cairney's studs scraped down his ankles.

Ultimately, this was another downwards curve in the roller-coaster that is Spurs' form.

Brennan Johnson has scored 10 goals across all competitions for Tottenham this season, with only Erling Haaland (17), Mo Salah (12) and Christopher Nkunku (11) netting more amongst all Premier League players. All ten of Johnson's have been non-penalty goals.

Fulham are unbeaten across their last eight Premier League London derbies (W4 D4), the club’s longest ever such run.

Inconsistency struck Tottenham Hotspur again as they were held at home by Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday.

Spurs, who were missing several key players through injury and suspension, had to withstand severe pressure before taking a 54th-minute lead through Brennan Johnson.

The Wales forward volleyed home his sixth league goal of the season from close range after being teed up by Timo Werner's cross.

But Fulham, who had the better chances in the game, deservedly equalised 13 minutes later through captain Tom Cairney, who was then sent off with seven minutes left for a late challenge on the back of Dejan Kulusevski's leg.

Cairney, who had only just come on as a substitute, lashed a first-time left-footed shot home from 18 yards after being picked out by Alex Iwobi.

Spurs, who beat Manchester City 4-0 last week and are the Premier League's top scorers, have now failed to win back-to-back games in their last eight matches.

The draw will be live on BBC Two, BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app.

We're set to hear from the new Leicester City boss Ruud van Nistelrooy shortly, ahead of his first game in charge.

  19. 'Spurs have a real shot at the top four'published at 13:35 Greenwich Mean Time

    Phil McNulty Q&A

Will, Bethnal Green: Are Spurs being overlooked as title contenders? Only five points off second place, just hammered the champions 4-0 at their stadium, second best goal difference, the most dynamic front three in the league and a fantastic CB pairing? If they remain injury free and put a run of games together they're right back in the mix.

Phil: Hi Will. I do not consider Spurs to be title contenders because they are simply not consistent enough from one week to the next.

No-one doubts the talent in Ange Postecoglou's squad or how exciting they are, but they are not a consistent side so that rules them out as title contenders.

I do think they have a real shot at the top four because there is a place up for grabs there, and that can be considered as success in the Premier League context.

  20. 'The PL will reach for the world's smallest violin'published at 13:29 Greenwich Mean Time

    Phil McNulty Q&A

Matt S: Phil, your thoughts on City's 'injury problems' with £353m sat on their bench? Liverpool's bench had Endo, Nunez, and the rest were academy players.

Phil: Hi Matt. Yep Guardiola will know the rest of the Premier League will reach for the world's smallest violin should he cite injuries at Manchester City given their financial and squad strength but they have suffered some damaging injury problems which have had an impact on their form.

Rodri, their most important player, is the obvious one but they have also missed John Stones, Ruben Dias, Kevin De Bruyne, Mateo Kovacic, Nathan Ake, Manuel Akanji, Jack Grealish, Jeremy Doku to list a lot. No matter how strong the squad, that is a lot of missing quality, no matter how good you are.
