  1. Odegaard to have scans on 'ankle sprain'published at 08:50 British Summer Time 10 September

Norway's team doctor said after Monday night's win over Austria that Martin Odegaard looked to have suffered a "small ankle sprain" and was "doing quite well", but would require further tests to determine the true extent of his injury.

He added that if the results of an ultrasound were not conclusive then the Arsenal midfielder would have an MRI scan today (Tuesday).

We will, of course, bring you any more updates from those scans as and when they are made available.

Mikel Arteta will also be keen to find out more, with the north London derby against Tottenham coming up for his Arsenal side on Sunday (14:00 BST).

Remember, Odegaard's midfield partner Declan Rice is suspended for that game after he was sent off in the Gunners' last match against Wolves.

  2. What happened to Odegaard?published at 08:42 British Summer Time 10 September

As we mentioned earlier, Arsenal fans face an anxious wait on the fitness of their captain Martin Odegaard, who limped off in Norway's Nations League match with Austria.

It happened half-way through the second half, with the game level at 1-1 at the time.

Odegaard tussled for the ball with Austria's Christoph Baumgartner.

As they collided, Odegaard's left foot got caught under Baumgartner's sliding tackle.

The Arsenal man looked in immediate discomfort. He did make it to his feet afterwards, but had to be helped to the touchline by members of the Norway medical team.

Central to the debate will be Harry Kane. With the England captain on the verge of his 100th cap, we would like to know where you feel he ranks in the list of the Three Lions' greatest ever players.

He is England's all-time leading goalscorer by some margin, so is it fair to assume he is the best ever striker to pull on the shirt?

Does he need to lift a trophy to be regarded among the very best England players from the 1966 era, such as Bobby Moore and Sir Bobby Charlton?

We finish with the i, which leads with a story on England's Lille midfielder Angel Gomes, 24, who interim manager Lee Carsley believes could provide the national team with a missing X factor as he aims to engineer a first major trophy for the men's team since 1966.

Gomes was a surprise selection in Carsley's first squad since being promoted from the Under-21s, where the pair combined well together to seal the 2023 European Championship title.

The England boss has promised a handful of changes for tonight's Nations League game at home to Finland...could Gomes be handed his first start after his substitute appearance in Saturday's win over the Republic of Ireland?

This willingness to battle through pain for the England cause led Kane, 31, to himself to declare that scoring 34 more goals for his country is "definitely possible".

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard limped off as Manchester City forward Erling Haaland scored a late winner for Norway against Austria in the Nations League.

Odegaard went down in pain after hurting his ankle following a foul by Christoph Baumgartner midway through the second half.

The midfielder could now be a doubt for Sunday's north London derby, with the Gunners already missing Declan Rice for the game against Tottenham through suspension.

"It looked painful in the locker room," Norway boss Stale Solbakken told TV2.

"We know it was an ankle sprain. With luck it can turn out OK, if the ligaments aren't torn, but I'm not really sure [Arsenal boss Mikel] Arteta will call me tonight to praise me.”

The team doctor later said that it was a "small ankle sprain", but that Odegaard was "doing quite well now". He added that he would have an ultrasound to investigate further and may require an MRI scan today [Tuesday] to confirm the full extent of the injury.

After Sunday's derby, Arsenal play Atalanta in the Champions League on 19 September and then face Premier League leaders Manchester City at Etihad Stadium on 22 September.

Craig Bellamy earned his first win as Wales head coach in a frenetic Nations League contest with Montenegro played in atrocious conditions in rain-lashed Niksic.

Kieffer Moore put the visitors ahead after just 37 seconds with an instinctive finish, before Harry Wilson doubled their lead with a fabulous 25-yard strike just two minutes later.

As the constant downpour wreaked havoc with the pitch, the game threatened to descend into farce at times, but the chaos also added to the entertainment of a breathless encounter with chances at both ends.

Montenegro captain Stevan Jovetic hit the bar with an outlandish effort from his own half, while Driton Camaj was denied by Ben Davies’ block on the line.

Moore missed a golden opportunity to score Wales’ third in the second half as he blazed over from close range and, after Vladimir Jovovic hit the post for Montenegro, the home side finally got the goal they deserved when Camaj tapped in after 73 minutes.

Wales were far from convincing in the closing stages but, as both teams tired and the quality of the match deteriorated like the pitch, Bellamy’s side were able to cling on for victory.

The result gives Wales four points from their opening two matches in Group B4 of the Nations League, level on points with Turkey at the top.

  17. Kane's golden momentpublished at 07:07 British Summer Time 10 September

Harry Kane gave the headline writers what they wanted on Monday, declaring on the eve of his 100th cap that it was his aim to score 100 goals for his country, as the England captain posed in a snazzy pair of golden boots to mark the occasion.

"I feel like I am in a good place and these are good targets to try to reach," said Kane on his 100-goal aim, with the Bayern Munich striker currently on 66 goals for his country.

"Some people may see them as unrealistic but I would rather go for something unrealistic and not quite make it rather than be comfortable just saying I will be happy with 70 or 80 goals."

Warning: today's round-up of the national newspapers will contain puns...
