Mia McAulay got Rangers off the mark against Thistle

Rangers moved top of the SWPL on goal difference after comfortably beating Partick Thistle.

Kirsty Howat fired over for Rangers and, moments later, Tiree Burchill was denied by goalkeeper Vic Esson at the other end.

Brogan Hay, Howat and Kirsty Maclean combined to carve open the Thistle defence and set up Mia McAulay to slot home Rangers' opener.

McAulay had one saved and Katie Wilkinson shot wide before the latter's persistence ended with Hardy touching in Rangers' second.

Rangers' third went down as a Demi Falconer own goal after Howat flicked the ball up following a corner.

Wilkinson had a goal disallowed for offside after the break and Hardy went close with a shot across the face of goal.

But the fourth goal arrived from a corner, with Kathy Hill forcing the ball in after leaping at the back post to meet Lizzie Arnot's delivery from the left.

Howat latched on to Hardy's pass and rounded Currie for the fifth and substitute Camille Lafaix converted McAulay's cross for number six.

Rangers, Glasgow City, Celtic and Hibernian all sit on 51 points after 21 games. The division splits after the next round of fixtures on 2 March.
