Mani Dieseruvwe came off the bench to score a hat-trick as Hartlepool eased the pressure on manager Darren Sarll with a hard-fought win at home to Sutton.
The visitors cruised into a 2-0 lead, with Jayden Harris firing them in front after six minutes from Josh Coley’s pass and Ashley Nadesan turning home Eduino Vaz’s deep cross in the 25th minute.
Luke Charman pulled a goal back for Hartlepool with a stooping header in the 55th minute and it was all square two minutes later when Dieseruvwe barged his way through before firing into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
The substitute scored again after 71 minutes to put Hartlepool in front and after Lewis Simper levelled for Sutton with seven minutes remaining, Dieseruvwe completed his hat-trick shortly afterwards, nodding home a Nicky Featherstone cross at the back post.
