Borussia Dortmund have only won one of their five major European meetings with Paris Saint-Germain (D2 L2), a 2-1 home win in a UEFA Champions League last 16 game in February 2020.
Both of Paris Saint-Germain’s European wins against Borussia Dortmund have been in Paris – they are winless in two away games against the German side (D1 L1).
Borussia Dortmund have conceded just one goal in their last seven home UEFA Champions League matches (W4 D3) since losing 3-1 to Ajax in November 2021. Their current run of four consecutive home clean sheets is their longest in their European Cup/Champions League history, while across all major European competitions it’s their best since a run of five in 2001-02 (Champions League + UEFA Cup).
Paris Saint-Germain have lost their last three away UEFA Champions League games – they’ve never lost four in a row away from home in either the Champions League or across all major European competitions.
Among teams competing in the UEFA Champions League this season, Paris Saint-Germain are on the longest current run without an away clean sheet in the competition (15 games). Their last shutout on the road was against Istanbul Basaksehir in a 2-0 win in October 2020 under Thomas Tuchel.
Borussia Dortmund will be aiming to finish top of their UEFA Champions League group for the first time since 2020-21, when they went on to reach the quarter-finals (eliminated by Manchester City). The 2020-21 campaign was also the last time they managed to win as many as four games in the group stage in a single edition (currently on three wins this term).
Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique has failed to win three of his five UEFA Champions League games in the group stage in charge of his current club (W2 D1 L2), while he only failed to win four of his 18 games in the group stage of the competition in charge of previous club Barcelona (W14 D2 L2).
Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappé has been directly involved in at least one goal in all four UEFA Champions League starts against Borussia Dortmund (four goals, one assist). Only Cristiano Ronaldo (seven) has ever scored more goals against Dortmund in the competition.
Jamie Bynoe-Gittens netted in his last outing in the UEFA Champions League, becoming the eighth different teenager to score for Borussia Dortmund in the competition – only Ajax (14) and Barcelona (11) have had more different players do so before turning 20.
Ousmane Dembélé hasn’t scored or assisted in any of his five UEFA Champions League appearances for Paris Saint-Germain this season, yet only Erling Haaland (32) was directly involved in more shots than the Frenchman through the first five matchdays this term (31 – 18 shots, 13 chances created).
Through the opening five matchdays in the UEFA Champions League this season, Kylian Mbappé was the player with the highest percentage of his touches being pressured by an opponent (90%). Indeed, only 28 of the Paris Saint-Germain forward’s 279 touches in the competition this term haven’t been while under pressure from an opposition player.
