Midfielder George Saville scored his first goal for Luton as the Hatters claimed a narrow League One victory over Wigan at Kenilworth Road.
The summer signing netted what turned out to be the winner after just nine minutes as he volleyed home Liam Walsh's left-wing cross.
Wigan were close to levelling after 15 minutes as Will Aimson hit the post, while Paul Mullin was denied by the legs of Town goalkeeper Josh Keeley before Aimson struck the crossbar from close range.
Luton's Jordan Clark saw his low effort repelled by Latics stopper Sam Tickle, but the Hatters were indebted to Keeley once more after he palmed away Callum Wright's glancing header and made another good stop from Jason Kerr.
After the break, Milli Alli's 25-yard shot was parried by Tickle as Luton looked in far more control.
The hosts almost made it 2-0 only to see substitute Lasse Nordas hit the woodwork, Aimson head over his own crossbar from on the line and Tickle save from Alli.
Tickle then almost snatched an unlikely point in injury time, shooting wide when going up for a corner.
