Manchester United will find out their third qualifying round opponent on Sunday
Manchester United remain on course to qualify for the Champions League after defeating Hammarby in the final of the second qualifying round in Stockholm.
Elisabeth Terland - United's hat-trick hero in the 4-0 win against PSV Eindhoven in the semi-final on Wednesday - again proved pivotal, scoring the only goal of the game just past the hour mark.
The result means Marc Skinner's side move into the third and final qualifying round - the draw for which will take place on Sunday and will set the nine two-legged ties, to be played on 11 and 18 September.
If United go on to win over two legs, they will join reigning European champions Arsenal and Women's Super League winners Chelsea in the 18-team league phase of the Champions League.
Terland had the first real chance of the game early on but the Norway striker fired straight at goalkeeper Melina Loeck, who is on loan at Hammarby from Brighton, after good work from Ella Toone on the left.
But it was the hosts who went closest to scoring in the first half.
Around the half-hour mark, Smilla Holmberg's corner was flicked by Julie Blakstad on to the path of Sofia Reidy, who rattled the crossbar from close range.
Celin Bizet tested the Hammarby goalkeeper again in the second half after stealing possession in the final third before Melvine Malard fired over from the rebound.
The duo combined again for the breakthrough in front of 300 travelling supporters shortly after, as Bizet's cross was knocked back across the goal by Malard for Terland to tap home.
United will now turn their focus to their WSL opener against Leicester City on 7 September before returning to the Champions League qualifiers.
If Skinner's side fail to progress past the third round, they will again join Hammarby in the second qualifying round of the Europa Cup, which takes place in October.
