Manchester United ensured their European adventure will continue into the autumn as they cruised to a Champions League second qualifying-round semi-final victory over PSV Eindhoven in Sweden.

In front of what the club estimated to be 100 travelling fans, Elisabeth Terland scored an excellent hat-trick as Marc Skinner's side dominated. Celin Bizet Donnum was also on target before the break, reacting fastest as the ball broke in the box.

The result means United advance to the final of their mini-group, where they will face either hosts Hammarby or Ukraine's Metalist Kharkiv on Saturday (18:00 BST). That pair meet in the other semi-final later on Wednesday (18:00 BST).

In Uefa's complicated qualification system, if United win on Saturday, they will move into a two-legged third qualifying-round tie in September.

If they lose on Saturday, or were to then be beaten in the Champions League final qualifier, they will go into the Europa Cup second qualifying round, which takes place in October.

United have never advanced beyond the second qualifying round of the Champions League.

Skinner will be delighted at his side's performance against a team that on paper looked dangerous after finishing second in the Dutch league last season. PSV only threatened after United, who finished third in the Women's Super League last season, were comfortably in front.

New signing Julia Zigiotti Olme was particularly impressive, while Ella Toone was a key figure in three United goals on her first competitive start since the Euro 2025 final victory with England.

Toone's defence-splitting pass for Terland to complete her hat-trick was particularly impressive.

Toone's international colleague Grace Clinton, who has been linked with Manchester City, travelled with United to Sweden but was not named in the matchday squad after Skinner indicated on Tuesday she was not quite fully fit.
