Sonny Cox found the net for the first time since the start of March

Exeter picked up their first League One victory of the season with a 4-1 thrashing of big-spending Blackpool.

The Grecians made a dream start with Reece Cole putting them in front after four minutes, collecting Jayden Wareham's clever flick and shooting across the face of Bailey Peacock-Farrell and into the far corner from 10 yards.

Exeter got their second in the 15th minute when Cole's corner to the back post was met by Jack Fitzwater and he powered a header goalwards, which took a deflection, before being gloved into the net by Peacock-Farrell.

Blackpool pulled a goal back after 22 minutes when Ashley Fletcher headed in from a Lee Evans free-kick, but that is as good as it got for the Seasiders.

Exeter were in complete control and deservedly got a third goal after 60 minutes when a Cole free-kick was headed back across goal and Wareham finished off for his first goal for the club.

The Seasiders handed second-half debuts to big money signings Dale Taylor and Malcolm Ebiowei, but never looked like clawing their way back into the game with Exeter substitute Sonny Cox wrapping things up in the 90th minute, flicking in at the near post from Ilmari Niskanen's cross.
