Brendan Rodgers said Celtic's "brilliant" support "pushed us over the line" in response to his call for patience as a hard-fought victory over Dundee United sent the Scottish Premiership leaders 16 points clear.
The Celtic manager had been irked by the reaction to backward passes during Sunday's 3-0 win over St Mirren, but was full of praise for the fans after Daizen Maeda and a late Reo Hatate strike downed a United side who ran the hosts close.
"The crowd were brilliant because it can get a bit edgy and we are a support, bless us, that we fret a wee bit and we worry a wee bit," Rodgers said.
"But that support was so important. It was fantastic. Such a cold night to come out and see the team but the numbers turned up, gave the team great support and that pushed us over the line."
Rodgers had also suggested supporters who chanted about transfer target and former Celtic player Kieran Tierney last weekend were being disrespectful to current left-back Greg Taylor.
The fans responded against United by singing about several former players including Odsonne Edouard, Henrik Larsson, Victor Wanyama and Jimmy Johnstone.
"It was just the kitman, he was the only one that missed out, I think," Rodgers added.
"It's all part of the dance here, isn't it? Listen, my job is to put the best team on the pitch and win and win consistently and everyone can smile."
Celtic initially seemed set to cruise to victory, but third-place United grew in confidence and looked capable of snatching a point.
Auston Trusty clipped the bar with a header from Arne Engels' corner, before the breakthrough came when Richard Odada's pass put team-mate Vicko Sevelj under pressure on the edge of his box, Luke McCowan nipped in and Jack Walton could only parry the ball straight out to the gleeful Maeda to slam home.
United re-emerged after the break in far more adventurous mood. Celtic substitute Kyogo Furuhashi went close with a header before Glenn Middleton produced a near-post save from Kasper Schmeichel at the other end.
As the clock ticked on, substitute Sam Dalby was a yard from connecting with a flick-on just in front of goal and was denied by Schmeichel late on from close range.
The win was eventually sealed when substitute Paulo Bernardo intelligently dummied to allow Hatate to finish off a lovely move.
