Cumnock Juniors manager Stephen Swift tells BBC Scotland: "We've been excited all week.

"We're just hoping they've got the energy tonight to go and make the fans proud.

"We've not really started the season well, but a game like this can kickstart it, so fingers crossed.

"Knowing the rivalry and what this means to the fans, this would be right up there [in terms of achievements]."

Auchinleck Talbot skipper Neil McPherson tells BBC Scotland: "Well usually it's exciting as you'd expect, but tonight, Scottish Cup under the lights at Beechwood, it adds a bit more.

"Aye, it's one we've had our eye on since it was announced it was on the tele.

"As the days got closer's just become more exciting

"When the fixtures get announced, Cumnock's usually one of the first you look for, but we need to treat tonight as any other game and get in the draw on Sunday night.

"Hopefully me and the boys put on a show for the fans tonight".

Cumnock Juniors captain Robbie Buchanan tells BBC Scotland: "You couldn't have picked a better draw, really looking forward to it.

"This is it, this is the night, and it's come up.

"I've played in five or six games against Talbot, but I'm sure this will be more competitive given it's a Scottish Cup tie and not a league game.

"This could give us a boost this season, and no better way to do it than against your local rivals."

Auchinleck Talbot manager Tommy Sloan tells BBC Scotland: "We need to try and keep things as they've been this season.

"We've been doing pretty well, so hopefully we can continue that tonight.

"The TV makes ot all the more special as well.

"We know we've got a game on our hands."

Kris Doolan, speaking on Sportscene, has just said we'll see "real football" tonight.

This was the queue ONE HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTES before kick-off.

Hottest ticket in town.

While Auchinleck's population is only 3,500 compared to Cumnock's 12,000, so much of the dynamic goes back to a fire that was literally started in 1972.

Vandals burned down the Talbot dressing room. To compound a miserable year, they were also thrashed 11-0 by Cumnock.

The Auchinleck community rallied, and Talbot have never looked back.

"I don't think we see them as much of a threat," says club historian Macaulay. "Even though we enjoy the derbies, I think we have risen above a wee bit."

Cumnock fan Weir naturally takes a slightly different view.

"Talbot fans are so used to having success that it is almost a God-given right to them," he says. "And when it doesn't happen for them, I think they could turn very quickly. Cumnock fans are a bit more humble in defeat."

Talbot top the table, with designs on promotion to the Lowland League.

They are in frightening form, scoring an average of almost five goals a game. They go into Friday's derby as favourites against their mid-table rivals.
