The last competitive meeting between Carlisle United and Derby County came in the League Cup second round in 2016-17, a 1-1 draw after which the Rams eventually progressed 14-13 on penalties.
Carlisle boss Paul Simpson’s only previous Football League meeting with Derby came in 2006-07 in the Championship while at Preston, drawing 1-1 away and losing 2-1 at Deepdale.
After losing their first game against a newly promoted side last season, going down 2-1 to Port Vale, Derby are unbeaten in their last seven such games (W5 D2).
