Phwoar, now that I need to see.

Reckon my bosses will send me to the final so that I can monitor his movements during that? It's a serious work related matter.

I'll even try and take you pair with me for bringing it up!

Would love to see Inzaghi's technical area heat map from last night's game (following on from BBC sport's article a month ago). He was flapping so much I thought he was going to take-off!

    Roysters

Can we have a Heat Map for Inzaghi please ! Imagine to be the 4th official when Inter play Simeone’s Atletico Madrid, maybe a 5th official is needed!

It's definitely going to go down as one of the all-time classic semi-finals, over both legs as well.

It was a fantastic tie, where both teams gave everything. It was an unbelievable atmosphere, and it was great to be here and witness it.

When you talk about the best semi-final final we are talking about both legs in the semi-final. For me, I will say the game between Man Utd and Juventus in 1999 at Old Trafford and Turin. Because Man Utd had to come from behind twice, but what I saw yesterday and last week between Barcelona and Inter Milan in both legs was one of the best semi-finals ever.

Inter Milan and Barcelona scored 13 goals between them to give us one of the most memorable Champions League games of all time.

It is the most goals scored in a Champions League semi-final tie in history.

But they share that record with two other teams, Liverpool and Roma, who also scored a combined 13 goals in the semi-finals of Europe's premier club competition.

It happened in 2018 when Liverpool edged Roma, also 7-6 on aggregate, in another semi-final thriller.

The Reds won the first leg at Anfield 5-2 as Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino scored twice apiece.

Roma produced a strong fightback in the return fixture but fell short despite a 4-2 victory at Stadio Olimpico.

Most goals in a Champions League knockout tie:

    • Inter 7-6 Barcelona (2024-25 semi-finals)
    • Liverpool 7-6 Roma (2017-18 semi-finals)
    • Bayern Munich 12-1 Sporting (2008-09 last 16)

I thought Liverpool vs Barca in 2019 had the cinematic drama but Inter/Barca is now the greatest SF imo. Two heavyweights going at it, toe to toe. Absolute classic.

    Scott, East Kilbride

Inter v Barca is without a doubt the best semi final ever. The Liverpool Barca was amazing as well but for different reasons. That was 1 team dominate the first leg and then let it slip in dramatic fashion. Inter Barca was 2 teams who refused to lose for the longest time going at each other for over 3 hours. Great goals, tremendous play and plenty of talking points throughout. Drama from minute 1 of the first leg. Utterly incredible.

Lamine Yamal was brilliant, and this goalkeeper [Sommer] - every single time Yamal was knocking on the door, Sommer was answering, and unfortunately for Yamal, it wasn't his day.

Inter Milan goalkeeper Yann Sommer speaking to Amazon Prime: "It means a lot. You don't have a lot of chances and possibilities to go to a final and we knew in the last four minutes of extra-time. We put everything on the pitch with the fans together and now we are happy and looking forward to it.

"We were in a similar situation in the first game, everything was on our side and then changed to their side. We did a really great game together, as a team, how we defend. I'm really proud of the team."

On his extra-time save to deny Lamine Yamal: "It was one of the most important saves of my career because it gave us energy and belief. We knew we had to do it and bring it home.

"I'm proud of this team, proud of this club and the fans were amazing."

How good was Yann Sommer on Tuesday evening?

The former Switzerland goalkeeper made a string of superb saves, none more so than the finger tip stop to deny Lamine Yamal in the latter stages of extra-time.

He made 14 saves across the two legs in total, the second most by any goalkeeper in a Champions League semi-final over the last 15 years and was also named player of the match following the conclusion of yesterday's fixture.

Brilliant and entertaining game, obviously. But should we also mention how Inzaghi won the substitutions battle? Taremi, Zielinski and especially Frattesi gave them back the midfield energy they needed to get over the line. Barcelona's bench did not have the same depth.

Did you ever see that Acerbi goal? Did you ever see that coming?

It was extraordinary. This is a guy that’s 37 years old. This just shows you the amount of fight. This is a team that’s played 54 matches, when they played 49 all season last year, so they’re on their last legs.

Inter did get a little bit exhausted in the second half, and you do see the other team start to push them and Inter look like they’re collapsing, but it’s that mentality that they can always conjure up that fight that they find at the very end.

Great match yesterday, and over the two legs, very entertaining for us. It will be part of a learning curve for this young Barca side and especially for Yamal. Had he kept hold of the ball and Barca as a team managed the last 5 mins, it would have been a different outcome (although had his shot gone in off the post, we would be praising his talents!). Inter, on the other hand, controlled the last 20 mins after taking the lead and deserved to progress. Can’t wait for tonight and hope that this evening’s game and then the final will be as exciting.

  17. Torres' night to forgetpublished at 10:21 British Summer Time 7 May

Inter Milan 4-3 Barcelona AET (agg 7-6)

Barcelona forward Ferran Torres had a night to forget against Inter Milan.

He struggled to get into the game from the off as highlighted by his touch map below.

Of the players that played 90 minutes or more, no outfield player on the pitch had less touches than Torres.

For those wearing the illuminous strip of Barcelona, he was the only player to have less than 70 touches - that's a significant drop off from his team-mates.

In his 91 minutes on the field, he completed six passes.

What a game, but I need to call out Lamine Yamal. He needs to realise he can’t win games on his own every time. Lost count of the number of times there was a free runner on his outside, never once used them.

Using 'Anon' here as an example. If you are going to call out Lamine Yamal, we think it is only fair you give us your name! Own it Anon, own it...

It begs the question, what eventually gave Inter Milan the edge? How did they find a way to get over the line?

Was it their great play? Their desire? Simone Inzaghi's tactics?

Could Barcelona have done anything differently? Did they fail to make the most of their attacking talent?

Well, put simply, it was a case of all of the above, and then some...

In between my frantic typing away this morning, it's just hit me that we had seven different scorers last night.

In fact, across the two legs, we had 12 different scorers from 13 goals.

Denzel Dumfries was the only man to get his name on the scoresheet multiple times across both games.

    • Marcus Thuram (Barcelona 0-1 Inter Milan)
    • Denzel Dumfries (Barcelona 0-2 Inter Milan)
    • Lamine Yamal (Barcelona 1-2 Inter Milan)
    • Ferran Torres (Barcelona 2-2 Inter Milan)
    • Denzel Dumfries (Barcelona 2-3 Inter Milan)
    • Yann Sommer OG (Barcelona 3-3 Inter Milan)
    • Lautaro Martinez (Inter Milan 4-3 Barcelona)
    • Hakan Calhanoglu (Inter Milan 5-3 Barcelona)
    • Eric Garcia (Inter Milan 5-4 Barcelona)
    • Dani Olmo (Inter Milan 5-5 Barcelona)
    • Raphinha (Inter Milan 5-6 Barcelona)
    • Francesco Acerbi (Inter Milan 6-6 Barcelona)
    • Davide Frattesi (Inter Milan 7-6 Barcelona)
