On the penalty save: "It was just a penalty and I was lucky to go the right way. I was unlucky that the rebound went straight to him [Retegui] but I was quick enough to get up and save it. It is fantastic to be able to keep the clean sheet and to help the team to get at least a point.

On the VAR wait: "It was a long wait and time to decide if it was a penalty or not, so I just wanted to speak to the goalkeeper coach to have more of a sense of which way I should go, what to do and what not to do.

"Credit to him because he helps me a lot in every aspect. He does all the work with everything and he also deserves credit for the save."

Disappointing starts for these sides, but there are plenty of matches left for them to move up the table.

Today's results leave the table looking like this. It has been a good start for German clubs with Bayern Munich first, Bayer Leverkusen third and Borussia Dortmund fifth.

After each club has played eight matches, the top eight move into the last 16 and those ranked between ninth and 24th go to the play-offs trying to join them.

Arsenal now turn their attentions to Manchester City on Sunday. Prior to facing Atalanta Jorginho played down talk of any disadvantage with City having an extra 24 hours rest, “it is what it is”.

There is often talk of a hangover when English sides play in European competition on a Thursday night.

If you look at Arsenal’s form in the top flight in 2019-20 and 2020-21 on the back of Europa League games, they only won 50% of their 22 matches, losing eight. (P22 W11 D3 L8)

However, they are now much more of a resilient side and have lost only one of their past 18 Premier League games following games in Europe in the last two seasons.

Arsenal are yet to trail in an away Premier League fixture in 2024 as they seek to extend their 11-match unbeaten run on their domestic travels this weekend.

David Raya tells TNT Sports that he decided to go and speak to Arsenal's goalkeeping coach on the sidelines before his jaw-dropping penalty save.

"I wanted to speak to him to more sense what to do and what not to do," he says. "There was a long time to decide if it was a penalty."

On Arsenal's performance, Raya added: "We know this is a tough place to come. They are a magnificent team. I think we could have played a bit more and a bit better. We weren't at our best."

David Raya was playing non-league for Southport 10 years ago.

Now he's making world-class saves on the Champions League stage.

French side Brest, playing in Guingamp 70 miles away from their home because their own stadium does not meet Uefa's requirements, have won their first ever Champions League match.

They edged out Sturm Graz 2-1. Hugo Magnetti put Brest ahead, an own goal from Edimilson Fernandes made it 1-1 and Abdallah Sima scored the winner.

The visitors ended with 10 men with Dimitri Lavalee sent off in the 88th minute.

Atletico Madrid get a late winner after falling behind after only four minutes against RB Leipzig, who scored through Benjamin Sesko.

But Antoine Griezmann levelled and set up the winner, headed home in the 90th minute by Jose Maria Gimenez.
