  2. 'Very happy with the win and clean sheet'published at 22:55 BST 1 October

    FT: Arsenal 2-0 Olympiacos

    Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta speaking to TNT Sports: "Very happy with the win and the clean sheet against a very tough opponent. We started the game very well, scored the goal and had some big chances. We became a little bit open and we needed a big save from David [Raya] to keep the clean sheet. After this and the game we played in Newcastle. Credit to the boys with the way we performed.

On taking chances: "They arrived in the box three or four rimes and they looked a real threat. we had to dig in deep to control them and to win the game."

On keeping clean sheets: "That is very difficult to do so credit to the boys. The consistency we show in this competition against very tough opponents and we go again on Saturday [against West Ham].

On Martin Odegaard's performance: "He was phenomenal. He influenced the game in a manner which is very important for us. He continued to play forward, playing people through on goal. He should have scored a goal as well so very good to have him back at this level."

On squad depth: "I want everybody to be a big part of that. The players came in to help. Anybody that comes in brings another dimension to the team."

On Gabriel coming off: "He was struggling a bit with a kick in the first half and we decided to take him off."

On the game against West Ham being his 300th in charge of Arsenal: "I didn't know that, that's a lot of games for this football club so I feel very honoured and a lot of gratitude for everyone who has allowed me to stay here for that long."

  5. 'We have a point and we will take it'published at 22:44 BST 1 October

    FT: Monaco 2-2 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola speaking to TNT Sports: "That was a good game. We made some decisions, we created a lot of chances. Unfortunately at the end we defended an unfair free-kick not perfectly, and we conceded a penalty that Nico touched the ball first, no intention. But it is what it is. We have a point and we will take it."

On if the penalty at the end was fair:

"I don't know if it was a penalty but it was given. So that's that."

On Erling Haaland scoring two goals: "He's is very good, he plays to score goals, very good. You have to find him and when they played two central defenders and two holding midfielders that is not easy to find him but he scored goals."

On Rodri going off after 60 minutes: "It is step by step. 90-minutes was too much for him."

  8. 'Foden performance one of the positives for City'published at 22:35 BST 1 October

    FT: Monaco 2-2 Man City

    Nedum Onuoha
Former Manchester City defender on MOTD: UEFA Champions League

It was a disappointing result but one of the positives for City tonight was Foden's performance, and he has been playing well since he came into the team for the Manchester derby.

Foden has been important in terms of trying to unlock some of the tough defences City have faced, and he made a big difference against Monaco too.

It felt like a lot of the chances City created came through him and although he has not assisted Haaland with either of his goals, a lot of their creativity came through him.

Any time they could find him in pockets of space, his ability to get on the ball on the half-turn to look for the right pass meant he could create something against what was a dogged defence. It was really impressive.

  10. 'You have to play what you see' - Odegaard on more 'simple' performancepublished at 22:31 BST 1 October

    Arsenal 2-0 Olympiacos

    Arsenal

Martin Odegaard spoke to TNT Sports: "It was nice to be back. I have missed it and I felt good, and it was a good win.

"We work on that [the fluidity] a lot, we want to create a lot. We know the quality we have in the team and how solid we are defensively so if we can create those chances and flow, it is always going to be good."

On his precise forward passes: "That is what I want to do, especially with those forward players, especially with Viktor [Gyokeres] who is so aggressive and always a threat. That is my job, to create things for them. I could have had a few more assists, but we got the win and I enjoyed it."

He was asked if he was asked by Mikel Arteta to take fewer touches or play more simply: "You have to play what you see, sometimes the game requires you to take more touches and sometimes fewer touches."

  12. 'A reminder that in Europe the game is never really out of sight'published at 22:23 BST 1 October

    FT: Monaco 2-2 Man City

    Nedum Onuoha
Former Manchester City defender on MOTD: UEFA Champions League

The result is frustrating for City but it's just a reminder that, playing in Europe, the game is never really out of sight and at 2-1, away from home, you always felt like they needed that third goal.

It didn't come, and they didn't really create as much in the second half even though Reijnders did hit the bar.

Unless they had that cushion, Monaco had belief and then it comes down to a moment that Nico Gonzalez will be disappointed with. He has lunged to try to defend the ball into the box and he is unlucky because stuff like that very rarely happens, but from when the referee has seen it and thought there was contact, he was always going to give the penalty.

At that point you are hoping your goalkeeper can step up but Dier has stepped up himself and smashed it into the corner, it was a great penalty.

  13. 'We didn't play good enough'published at 22:19 BST 1 October

    FT: Monaco 2-2 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland speaking to TNT Sports:

"I don't feel good - we didn't win. We did something unnecessarily in the second half. We didn't play good enough, we didn't deserve to win.

"We need more energy. We needed to get at them more like in the first half, they took the lead in the second half and I don't think it's good enough."

Penalty incident: "I didn't see it - but if you kick someone in the face it's probably a penalty."

On only having seven first-half touches: "I still think I'm involved in the game, doing movements and giving space to others. It's not just about touching the ball to be in the game, it's about making runs. I did my job in the first half, second half I didn't. I didn't score goals or finish it off.

"Every Champions League game is tough. Look at last year we went out. Every game is tough, not many teams have won their first two games and that's why."

    FT: Arsenal 2-0 Olympiacos

    Arsenal

Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli speaking to TNT Sports: "This is Champions League, Olympiacos are a really good side with really good players. We could have scored more goals in the first half, we had some chances but that is the Champions League."

On his first chance after two minutes: "It was a great ball from Myles [Lewis-Skelley], we were talking about me attacking the space in the box before the game and he did great with the ball. I could have done better in that one."

On his goal: "I tried to wait a little bit to see if it was Viktor [Gyokores'] goal and then it touched the post and I scored. It was a good goal so happy with the goal and the victory."

On Arsenal's strength in depth: "It's good for the club, we want to have the best players around us and we have a really good group. We want to win every title that we play in and that is what we are going to try to do."

On winning their first two Champions League games: "We play for Arsenal and we want to win every single game of the season if possible and we want to win every trophy that we can."

  18. 'Great football'published at 22:03 BST 1 October

    Arsenal 2-0 Olympiacos

    Ally McCoist
Former Rangers striker on TNT Sports at Emirates stadium

    A terrific game of football.

In the first half, Arsenal's performance probably merited going in more than one up at half time. Having said that, Olympiacos came right back into it and played some great football. The front three were lively.

For me, the best player was Odegaard.

The one that got away for Manchester City. City will feel it was a game they should have won, they had chances, but they didn't take them.
