  2. Kelly eyes Euro 2025published at 11:42 Greenwich Mean Time

Man City v Arsenal (12:00 GMT)

Kelly made just one league start for Manchester City this season and a move to Arsenal represents a bold statement about her hopes of representing England at the 2025 European Championships in July.

The forward said on Wednesday: "With the Euros fast approaching, this summer is a huge one and I want to be in a position to give it my best shot to represent my country.

"However, to be dictated whom I can and can't join with only four months left of the football season is having a huge impact on not only my career but my mental wellbeing."

Manchester United had made an offer for Kelly on Thursday but it was rejected by City before a loan agreement with Arsenal was struck.

  3. 'Proud of Kelly for standing up and using her voice'published at 11:40 Greenwich Mean Time

I feel proud of Chloe Kelly for standing up and using her voice, for telling everyone what she is feeling and what it has been like for her at the club.

She has been able to use social media as that platform to say what has happened to her at the club is not ok, she wants to move, she wants to be happy. I think it could potentially help other players to speak out.

I think the move to Arsenal will be good for her. It is a big statement about her desire to play for England at the Euros.

All the talk this week as the WSL transfer window came to a close was the situation with England international Chloe Kelly.

She left City on deadline day and joined Arsenal on loan for the rest of the season.

Kelly posted several social media messages throughout the process about the treatment she felt she was getting from the club.

City have not commented publicly but manager Gareth Taylor described it as a "very disappointing" end in his media conference.

She is not in Manchester today as she is ineligible to play against City and Arsenal don't ask their non-squad players to travel.

It is probably for the best as it will take the spotlight off Kelly, while City will be keen to bounce back from a difficult week.

  5. Kelly transfer saga end 'disappointing'published at 11:36 Greenwich Mean Time

Man City v Arsenal (12:00 GMT)

Clearly, no Chloe Kelly in either side today.

A week of drama in the women's transfer window after England forward Kelly completed a deadline day loan deal to Arsenal having been the subject of heavy transfer speculation throughout the past month.

Manchester City boss Gareth Taylor said it is "really disappointing" how a bitter transfer saga between Kelly and the club came to an end.

The 27-year-old posted on Instagram on Wednesday that she wanted "to be happy again" and did not see her future at City beyond the summer.

"It's been really disappointing to come to this and the ending it transpired to," Taylor said in a news conference on Friday.

"We never like to hear a player has not had a good experience of being at a club and I'm sure that's not the case for the whole period, maybe just this more recent period from not playing.

"We're in a selection-based business where difficult decisions have to be made for the betterment of the team. Sometimes players can fall on the sharp end of that."
