A deserved half-time lead for Motherwell, who have dominated this contest in Perth.
After an early penalty appeal was rejected following copious video replays, Dan Casey seized on some home sloppiness to nod the visitors ahead. Goalkeeper Ross Sinclair, playing his first competitive game in over a year, couldn't deal with Andy Halliday's corner and Casey leapt to pounce.
Halliday curled in an outrageous second, but the offside flag cut celebrations short.
The only slight concern for boss Stuart Kettlewell is a stoppage-time injury to Zach Robinson, who has been replaced by former Saint Tony Watt.
At the other end, Benjamin Kimpioka spurned a glorious close-range opportunity, albeit with suspicions of a foul in the build-up. Not much else for the Perth faithful to shout about.
