But it's often not been goals that have been a problem for his side but protecting a lead.

As usual, the Champions League anthem was booed by a section of the home support, followed by a chant of 'City, City'.
These fans have a long standing grudge against UEFA that goes back much further than the two-year ban, overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, for breaching financial rules in February 2020.

Liverpool are through to the last 16 whatever the result tonight but it's a big occasion for Gakpo, 25, who was born in Eindhoven and became a fans' favourite at PSV before moving to Merseyside two years ago.
A big night too for the likes of Jayden Danns and 20-year-old midfielder James McConnell.
Danns, 19, is making his first senior start while Liverpool's bench includes 17-year-old Trey Nyoni.

It is their [UEFA's] dream what is going on tonight. Everything on the line, someone like Man City are on the edge of being eliminated.
When they set it up the idea was that teams like this would be on the edge of the top eight, but for them to be potentially going out of the competition brings that interest for the next round, the playoff.
In the four-team format, two or three games in you kind of knew where you stood. But this year there have been so many ways of getting further if you are not that team that is necessarily expected to go on and win it or reach the semi-finals. [The new format] has opened it up.

"Ask me the question after," he said. "Thank you for your concern but after the game I will answer you."

There are blue seats dotted around the stadium but not many in the away section.
The Club Brugge fans are in early and in good voice.
They have travelled to England in the knowledge their team could lose tonight and still make it to the play-offs.
It has been an excellent campaign, so far, for the Belgian side.

Man City v Club Brugge (20:00 GMT)
Opta have given Manchester City a 63.8% chance of beating Club Brugge and making the play-off round.
However, the chances of reaching the last 16 falls to 41.1%.
Club Brugge have won three of their Champions League games so far this season, including a home win against Aston Villa.
They also held Juventus to a goalless draw in their last European outing but their only away win in the competition was at Sturm Graz on 2 October.
The Belgians are, however, in good form having not lost a game in any competition since 22 October.
They are managed by Nicky Hayen, who just three years ago had a spell as manager of Welsh semi-professional side Haverfordwest County.

Champions League highlights: Sturm Graz 1-0 RB Leipzig
Sturm Graz signed off from a disappointing Champions League group phase on a positive note with victory against RB Leipzig.
Arjan Malic turned in the rebound from his own effort after finding space at the back post when RB Leipzig failed to clear a corner.
The Austrian side thought they had doubled their lead when William Boving pounced to turn in a loose ball, but it was ruled out by the video assistant referee (VAR) for a foul in the build-up.
Both clubs knew their campaign in the Champions League would go no further than the group phase prior to the start of play.

Sturm Graz and RB Leipzig will meet for the first time in a competitive fixture; the Austrian side have lost seven of their previous nine games in European competition against German opposition (W1 D1), including 1-0 away to Borussia Dortmund on MD4 of this season’s UEFA Champions League.
RB Leipzig’s only previous meetings with Austrian opposition came against FC Red Bull Salzburg in the 2018-19 UEFA Europa League group stage, losing 3-2 at home and 1-0 away.
None of Sturm Graz’s 15 home games in the European Cup/UEFA Champions League have ended level (W7 L8). Indeed, they are the side who’ve played the most such home matches without ever drawing.
RB Leipzig have lost all three of their away matches in the UEFA Champions League this season, while the last German side to lose more in a single campaign in major European competition was Hamburg in 2009-10 (five away defeats in the UEFA Europa League).
RB Leipzig lost their final group stage game in their first UEFA Champions League campaign (1-2 v Besiktas in 2017-18). Since then, however, the German side haven’t lost any of their five such matches, winning each of the last four in a row (D1).
Only Girona (5), FC Red Bull Salzburg (5) and Bologna (5) have failed to score in more UEFA Champions League games this season than Sturm Graz (4), while the Austrian side has the lowest expected goals total in the competition this term (5.1).
Sturm Graz have strung together fewer sequences of 10+ passes in open play than any other side in the UEFA Champions League this season (32).
Sturm Graz suffered their joint-heaviest defeat in the UEFA Champions League to Atalanta on MD7 (0-5) while the 25 shots they faced was their most in a major European game since facing 30 shots to Real Sociedad in the 2021-22 UEFA Europa League.
Sturm Graz have had fewer different goalscorers (excluding own goals) than any other side in the UEFA Champions League this season (2). The only player to score more than once for them this term (Mika Biereth) has now left the club.
Benjamin Sesko has four UEFA Champions League goals this season, with only Christopher Nkunku netting more in a single campaign for RB Leipzig (7 in 2021-22). Overall, Sesko has six goals in the Champions League, with Zlatko Zahovic (11) and Josip Ilicic (7) the only Slovenian players to net more.
