Football fans of multiple nationalities are mixing freely in Frankfurt ahead of two huge final games in Scotland’s group A.

It’s six hours before kick-off here and yet already the hosts are gathering in squares and fan-zones in big numbers, looking to continue their perfect start to the tournament.

A big win (say, 5-0?) for Germany would be lovely for Scotland. Vielen Dank.

  2. Hansen discharged from hospitalpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 23 June

We've just heard some good news - Liverpool and Scotland legend Alan Hansen has been discharged from hospital following illness.

Liverpool had confirmed on 9 June that the former centre-back, 69, was "seriously ill".

But on Sunday a family statement on the club website said that Hansen will "continue his recovery at home".

Well that is just excellent to hear, and a timely reminder that some things are bigger than football.

We're all thinking of you, Alan.

    Tom English
    BBC Scotland's chief sports writer

To be in Germany these past few weeks is to understand the enormous power of football in Scotland and its ability to mobilise people in the most extraordinary way.

The singing of Flower of Scotland before the Switzerland game in Cologne did not come from the larynx, it came from the heart.

The noise level was not a product of a desire to survive in this tournament, but a desperation.

These stories going around are unforgettable. People flying in from Australia, Argentina and Azerbaijan. Families and lads on the lash.

All ages. All human life. And now all of them with eyes on Scotland v Hungary in Stuttgart on Sunday.
