This will be the first meeting between Wrexham and Newport County in the top four tiers of English football since March 1988, a 4-1 win to Wrexham at the Racecourse with Ollie Kearns scoring a hat-trick.
Newport County last faced Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground in December 2018, a 0-0 draw in the FA Cup second round. Newport then won the replay 4-0.
Wrexham have scored at least two goals in all 11 home league games this season, netting 35 goals – the most of any League Two side at home this season – and winning their last five games. The Dragons haven’t won six in a row at home in the Football League since December 1995 under Brian Flynn.
Newport County have forced 226 high turnovers in League Two this season, 42 more than any other side. Despite this, they are one of four sides yet to score following a high turnover in the division.
