Mike Fondop’s second-half header salvaged a point for hosts Oldham in their 1-1 National League draw with Southend.

Gus Scott-Morriss broke the deadlock after a cagey start when he flicked home George Moncur’s free-kick in the 35th minute at Boundary Park.

The Lactics came within inches of levelling things up before the break when Fleetwood loanee Callum Dolan rattled an effort off the crossbar in stoppage time.

It was all square after 76 minutes, however, when Fondrop nodded in from Dan Gardner’s corner and neither side was able to find a winner in seven minutes of added time.
