  3. McGovern continues fine form to rescue a draw against Celticpublished at 18:04 BST 21 September

    Celtic 1-1 Hibernian

Kathleen McGovern's ninth goal of the season rescued a point for Hibernian against Celtic and made sure they weren't cut too far adrift of their rivals early on in the SWPL season.

A loss would have seen Hibs slip seven points behind league leaders Rangers, and for much of the game that looked to be the outcome after Natalie Ross' early goal put Celtic ahead.

But Hibs' battled back and found an equaliser when McGovern pounced on some loose Celtic defending to steal the ball in the box and fire past the keeper.

As a result, Celtic remain third and Hibs move to fourth above city rivals Hearts.

  4. Motherwell and Thistle can't be splitpublished at 18:01 BST 21 September

    Motherwell 1-1 Partick Thistle

Mya Bates' late goal ensured Partick Thistle got a share of the spoils as they left Motherwell with a point.

Carla Boyce's first-half penalty, against her former club, had the hosts ahead at K-Park for a long time.

But when Bates was introduced in the final 10 minutes, she made an almost instant impact, firing into the back of the net with almost her first involvement.

  5. Montrose pick up valuable win over Acciespublished at 17:25 BST 21 September

    Montrose 2-0 Hamilton Accies

Montrose added to Hamilton Accies' misery in the SWPL this season with a straightforward 2-0 win at Links Park.

Accies only lost 1-0 to Glasgow City last weekend and were looking to build on that performance to try and pick up their first points of the season.

But second-half goals from Chloe Gover and Tally Robb secured the win for the hosts - their second victory of the season.

  6. Late goals add gloss to Rangers' victorypublished at 17:21 BST 21 September

    Rangers 3-0 Aberdeen

    Andrew Petrie
    BBC Sport Scotland

Rangers were the latest team to be well-tested by Aberdeen, before they motored away with two late goals to see the Dons off.

The game was goalless at the break, and Rangers had to rely on their usual goalscorer Katie Wilkinson putting them in front just after the hour.

The one-goal gap remained until an 89th minute own goal from Holly Daniel, before Mia McAulay added another in the 93rd minute.

The win keeps Rangers on top of the SWPL table, while Aberdeen were once again glorious in defeat. They've already pushed Celtic and Glasgow City all the way this season, only losing by narrow margins.

  7. City maintain 100% start as Hearts crumblepublished at 17:18 BST 21 September

    Glasgow City 5-1 Hearts

    Andrew Petrie
    BBC Sport Scotland

Glasgow City made it five wins from five games in the new SWPL season, and put five goals past a Hearts side that were expected to run them far closer.

Leanne Ross' side were 3-0 up at half-time thanks to goals from Natalia Wrobel, Abi Harrison and Nicole Kozlova, cutting Hearts to shreds at Petershill.

Kozlova added a fourth just before the hour, before Sofia Maatta poked in a fifth from close range. Jenna Slattery did get one back for Hearts, beating Lee Gibson at her front post, but it was only a mild consolation.

It's the heaviest defeat Hearts have suffered since April 2024, and while City didn't lose to Hearts last season, the games were generally far closer.

  10. What's happening this weekend?published at 21:07 BST 15 September

The SWPL continues with all 10 teams in action across five fixtures on Sunday.

Even at this early stage of the season, it's tight at the top with one point separating leaders Rangers from city rivals Celtic and Glasgow City.

Edinburgh sides Hearts and Hibernian are not far behind and today's results could alter the make-up of the standings with two games involving top-five sides.
