I do have some sympathy for officials and VAR even though there have been some glaring errors in my opinion. The trouble is laws of the game leave grey areas - look at the penalties Everton have conceded as example. The laws need rewriting to be clear and obvious

As you'd expect, Tottenham boss Thomas Frank was delighted with his side's 2-0 victory over Manchester City.
He emphasised the importance of keeping a second successive clean sheet, given Spurs kept just six in the Premier League last season.
After two games, are already a third of the way to matching that total...

I don’t understand how VAR can still get so much wrong and far too often. If we can all see these decisions at home then why can’t the people with all those extra camera angles and technology at their fingertips who are being paid a fortune to operate it?

It's a north London one-two at the top of the table after Tottenham celebrated victory over Manchester City in Saturday's lunchtime kick-off.
What a result it was for new boss Thomas Frank and his team.
It was a third victory in Spurs' last five visits to the Etihad - it certainly isn't a fixture Pep Guardiola enjoys - and back-to-back opening wins for former Brentford coach Frank.

11 years ago this week Spurs were top with the same points and goal difference, they came 6th that season. I would take that after last season.

Arsenal 5-0 Leeds United
There's certainly been no shortage of talk around big-money summer signings over recent weeks.
But 15-year-old Max Dowman certainly took his opportunity to shine at Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Mikel Arteta said that he needs to "protect" Dowman in his development but that has not stopped his team-mates heaping praise on him.
"I think everyone can see the potential he has. Playing against grown men. He is a joy to watch, for the crowd too he is a joy to watch. Hopefully, he will have many amazing years here." Jurrien Timber said.

Lots of focus in the last 24 hours on the United front three, and the £200m spent, whilst totally ignoring the real issue. In a 3-4-3 you can’t carry one central midfielder, never mind two. Not good enough creatively and woeful defensively. In urgent need of a Kante type player.

In the past hour, Fabrizio Romano has twice post updates about Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie.
The first one reports that Tottenham have made an approach for the 23-year-old.
The second, around 50 minutes later, then says Arsenal have now decided to do the same.
Surely not another one...

It’s early in the season, but already the big games are already here and the last thing we need is Saka sidelined for a few weeks, especially with a possible season-defining game happening next Sunday. That said, I’m still confident of achieving a result at Anfield.

Image source, Getty ImagesViktor Gyokeres did his trademark 'mask' celebration after scoring his first Premier League goal for Arsenal on Saturday, but then he switched things up for his second goal against Leeds by running his fingers through his hair, a nod to the critics who said who touched his gelled hair more than the ball at Old Trafford a week earlier.
The Sweden striker joined Arsenal on a £64m five-year deal from Sporting in July and, after a short pre-season, says he's fitting in well at the Emirates.
"I felt more comfortable in how we're playing, and I think you can see that as well," Gyokeres told Sky Sports.
"I am comfortable when the ball is coming in-behind and then cutting inside. I know I'll take the chance when I have it like that.
"We have so many amazing players going forward. For me, it is important to be in the right place."

Rest Odegaard regardless. Ready made replacement in Eze, with Nwaneri from bench. Saka is now replaceable with Madueke. With Trossard a utility cover across the front line, depth that hasn’t been there in the last couple of years. No need to rush injured players back.

Bukayo Saka is 'Mr Arsenal', he is the influential player.
Thankfully they have just signed Eberechi Eze, who is a special player, and he is going to have to go straight in at the deep end and take the burden of being the man that creates for Arsenal.
He hasn't gone to Arsenal to be the main man, he has gone to show the talent that he has, and he is definitely capable of doing it.

Image source, Getty ImagesAlthough undoubtedly a blow that his star player will miss one of the biggest games of the season against Liverpool this weekend, the news that Bukayo Saka's hamstring injury is not quite as serious as first feared will be of huge relief for Mikel Arteta.
The Arsenal boss was able to welcome a new forward last week with the arrival of £60m signing Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace.
And he also watched new £64m striker Viktor Gyokeres score his first Arsenal goals in the 5-0 win over Leeds United.
The Emirates atmosphere was lifted further by the Premier League debut of 15-year-old Max Dowman too, as the hosts outclassed their promoted opposition on a near-perfect day.

Refreshingly honest take by Bassey [08:05 entry] to admit too much force was used on Mount. Although it doesn’t take away the fact the two United players instigate first contact. Defenders have an impossible job! Bassey is “too strong” for the penalty and Bassey is “too weak” for the goal!

Image source, Getty ImagesKobbie Mainoo was an unused substitute yesterday as Manchester United drew with Fulham at Craven Cottage.
When Ruben Amorim made changes during the game, the first was to drop Mason Mount into a deeper role for Casemiro as Benjamin Sesko came on. Then Manuel Ugarte replaced Mount as United looked for a winner.
Mainoo seems to have slipped back quite a way since the his 2023-24 breakthrough campaign under Erik ten Hag, when he scored in the FA Cup final and started for England in the Euro 2024 final.
Judging by who the 20-year-old is in direct competition with in the United squad, according to Ruben Amorim, the midfielder might be in for a frustrating few weeks.
“He’s fighting for the position now with Bruno (Fernandes),” he said.
“I changed two midfielders. I left Mason Mount there because we want to score a goal and when I changed again, I felt the team need to return to one holding midfielder near Bruno.
“He just needs to fight for the position with Bruno, as should be at Manchester United.
“He will play with Bruno (as well) but at the moment he’s fighting in training with Bruno for the position.”
Unless Fernandes is moved into one of the number 10 roles new signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo presently occupy, it is difficult to see Amorim dropping his captain.

Glasner 'delighted' with Palace's unbeaten start to the season
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner believes a draw was the fair result between his side and Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
Ismaila Sarr put Palace in front midway through the first half before Callum Hudson-Odoi equalised for Forest early in the second period.
Despite playing out two draws so far in the Premier League, Glasner added that he was "delighted" with his sides unbeaten start to the season in all competitions.

VAR - 1week it is anti-goals/football, the next week it is not doing it's job ruling out goals. Never gonna win.

'There will be resolution' - Nuno Espírito Santo on Forest future
Nottingham Forest fans will be hoping that Nuno Espirito Santo remains as boss following an excellent campaign last year.
Speaking on his future yesterday, Nuno said before kick-off that it was "nonsense" that he was trying to engineer his own exit.
But, while he later said he will not quit as Nottingham Forest manager, he also admitted he cannot guarantee he will still be in charge by the end of the transfer window.
"It is absurd. Never," he said on if he could walk away from the club.

VAR getting things wrong is a simple example of poor standard. In this new technological advance world with AI we still can't get the decisions right? How difficult it is for someone on the monitor to review and give right decision. Standard of referee training needs improvement.
