  2. Brentford team newspublished at 15:17 BST 2 October

Brentford v Man City (Sun, 16:30 BST)

    Brentford

After sitting out of Brentford's victory over Man Utd with a minor knee injury last weekend, Fabio Carvalho returns to fitness as the Bees host Man City on Sunday.

Joining him is Reiss Nelson, who is available for the first time since his debut in the Carabao Cup game against Aston Villa in September.

Another longer-term absentee, Gustavo Nunes, could bolster Keith Andrews' matchday squad. The Brazilian has not played for Brentford since July, but has returned to first-team training this week and could feature at the Gtech Community Stadium, or play a part for Brentford B.

The wait goes on for Paris Maghoma, who is still building fitness.

  3. 'We showed real courage and conviction'published at 15:12 BST 2 October

Brentford v Man City (Sun, 16:30 BST)

    Brentford

On building on their win against Man Utd, Brentford manager Keith Andrews said:

"We should take a lot [of confidence from last week's result].

"We showed real courage and conviction - I said those two words after the game and I certainly still feel that a few days on. They're key components to what we'll need on Sunday [against Man City].

"The way the players approached the game, the staff, the club, I just thought they rose to the challenge, I enjoyed it."

  4. Iraola 'happy' at Bournemouthpublished at 15:10 BST 2 October

Bournemouth v Fulham (Fri, 20:00 BST)

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola was also quizzed about his future:

"I am very happy here, we have a very good relationship with the owner and Simon (Francis) and with Tiago (Pinto), and we will speak. When there is something to announce, we will tell. We are not going to speak about these things here."

  5. 'I am happy because we are being competitive'published at 15:09 BST 2 October

Bournemouth v Fulham (Fri, 20:00 BST)

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola spoke about his team's start to the season:

"It is too early to look (at the table). I am not sure where we are. I know we are there, but I am not even sure. For me, it's about being competitive. I am happy because we are being competitive; some games, we are playing better, in other games not as good, but I think we are being competitive.

"I want to keep this level the whole season if we can, but it's about small margins. All the games have been very levelled. I expect the same tomorrow."

  6. Emery confident despite injuriespublished at 15:06 BST 2 October

Feyenoord v Aston Villa (20:00 BST)

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa remain without Jadon Sancho tonight because of sickness, while Amadou Onana, Youri Tielemans, Andres Garcia, Ross Barkley and Tyrone Mings are all still out.

Manager Unai Emery has included a handful of youth players in his travelling squad, but is confident he has "enough players to get a collective performance and give them the confidence to compete against Feyenoord".

  7. Postpublished at 15:03 BST 2 October

Feyenoord v Aston Villa (20:00 BST)

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa will look to make it two wins from two in the Europa League when they face Feyenoord in Rotterdam tonight.

Unai Emery's side began their campaign with a 1-0 win against Bologna 1-0 at Villa Park last week, while Dutch opponents Feyenoord lost 1-0 away from home against Braga.

Feyenoord v Aston Villa (20:00 BST)

    Aston Villa

It's been a slow start to the season for Aston Villa.

Unai Emery's side failed to score in any of their opening four Premier League games, and on Sunday beat Fulham 3-1 to get a first league win of the campaign at the sixth attempt.

That doesn't matter tonight though - Villa are returning to De Kuip, the scene of their European Cup final triumph against Bayern Munich in 1982.

"It will be just like last year when we played against Bayern Munich, the team they beat in that final, which was of course very special as well," Villa boss Emery said.

Crystal Palace take on Ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv tonight in their first ever official match in a European competition.

BBC Sport's Ask Me Anything team explains why the match is taking place in Poland...

Why are Crystal Palace playing Dynamo Kyiv in Poland?

Crystal Palace's Conference League meeting with Ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv is taking place in Poland because of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The match will take place at the Motor Lublin Arena in Lublin, Poland.

Since the conflict started in February 2022, Ukrainian clubs have played their home matches in Europe in Poland, Slovakia, Sweden, Germany, Romania, Czech Republic and Slovenia.

Ukraine's national team has also played international home matches in Germany and Turkey in recent years.

Our focus is now on the build-up to Thursday evening's Europa League and Conference League action, but we will also be bringing you the best lines from those Premier League news conferences we haven't heard from yet, as and when we get them.

  11. Glasner future uncertainpublished at 14:53 BST 2 October

Dynamo Kyiv v Crystal Palace (17:45 BST)

    Sami Mokbel
    BBC Sport Senior football correspondent

Sources have told BBC Sport that Oliver Glasner was offered a new contract earlier this summer, but has yet to put pen to paper on an extension.

Well-placed insiders claim the Austrian preferred to wait until the end of the transfer window before making a decision - a choice motivated by his inclination to see how committed the club were to strengthening the squad.

As the weeks progressed, Glasner was openly critical of how Palace operated in a summer in which the club made a profit of £16.3m.

Of Palace's five new signings, only Yeremy Pino has started a Premier League game so far.

And then there was the saga of them being demoted from the Europa League by Uefa for breaching multi-club ownership rules.

With all that in mind, it is understandable Glasner has, at best, shown a reluctance to commit.

So that begs the question - could he still be persuaded to stay in the future?

  12. Glasner European experience 'not important'published at 14:48 BST 2 October

Dynamo Kyiv v Crystal Palace (17:45 BST)

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has enjoyed European success in the past - he guided Eintracht Frankfurt to Europa League glory in 2021-22.

However, he doesn't believe that counts for much when it comes to Palace's Conference League campaign:

"My past experience is not important," he said.

"Of course, I always want to help and support the team as good as I can. I always try to give my experience and that is not just in football, but in my life.

"Nothing I did with Frankfurt will help us [against Dynamo Kyiv]. It is a new opposition, new stadium and new environment. But what can help us is how we approach the game."

  13. Palace ready for historic fixturepublished at 14:45 BST 2 October

Dynamo Kyiv v Crystal Palace (17:45 BST)

    Crystal Palace

It's a huge day for Crystal Palace, as they take on Dynamo Kyiv in Lublin, Poland, in the club's first ever match in a major European competition proper.

Despite winning the FA Cup last season, Oliver Glasner's side were demoted from the Europa League to the Conference League over multi-club ownerships rules.

After that decision was upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, Palace overcame Norwegian side Fredrikstad 1-0 on aggregate in the play-off round to reach the league phase.

  14. 'Spurs have the mentality to grind out results'published at 14:43 BST 2 October

Leeds v Spurs (Sat, 12:30 BST)

    Leeds United

On what makes Thomas Frank team's special, Leeds United manager Daniel Farke said: "The intensity his teams play with. They’re well structured, strong, and against the ball they play and press with intensity. His style, the detailed set pieces, attention to throw-ins. The mentality to grind out results.

"If you play three days, you have to rotate more than if you just have one game per week - they have the squad and quality to do this.

"But when it’s difficult, when they rotate, they find a way to grind out a result. The mentality which Frank brings to his team is effective - they find pragmatic solutions to find results. They can always come back with a late goal and this shows a good mentality, a good spirit, and this is down to Thomas and why his teams are so hard to play against."

  15. 'There are so many positives'published at 14:38 BST 2 October

Nottingham Forest v Midtjylland (20:00 BST)

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest may be winless five games into Ange Postecoglou's tenure as manager, but the Australian coach believes his side are making progress:

"When I analyse the games I see they're doing so many things right and in a normal course of events we could have been sitting here and I don't think anyone would begrudge us if we'd won all those games.

"Apart from the Arsenal game I don't think anyone would have said we were lucky if we had won those games.

"There's so many positive signs and I think the players, they're not silly they see that and they understand that but I want them to get the rewards for their hard work."

Nottingham Forest v Midtjylland (20:00 BST)

    Nottingham Forest

European football will be played at the City Ground for the first time in 30 years tonight when Nottingham Forest take on Midtjylland in the Europa League.

Forest began their league phase campaign with a 2-2 draw with Real Betis in Seville, while Midtjylland - currently second in the Danish Superliga - beat Sturm Graz of Austria 2-0 at home.

  17. 'Not just be talk of the town, but the talk of the country!'published at 14:32 BST 2 October

Leeds v Spurs (Sat, 12:30 BST)

    Leeds United

On Leeds' start to the season, manager Daniel Farke said: "The start has been good. What I like about our start in terms of performances is that we have not won one lucky point. We have lost three points, very unlucky. We could be on 10 or 11 - then we would not just be talk of the town, but the talk of the country!

"I think that it's good for this emotional club that we are flying under the radar. Everyone connected with the club can be over the moon pretty quickly around here. We need many more points to achieve our target, so we have to keep going."

  18. 'We are consistent'published at 14:30 BST 2 October

Man United v Sunderland (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Sunderland

The Sunderland manager also spoke about his players' ability to seamlessly integrate themselves with the starting XI:

"Because we are consistent. The players from last season, when they had to come off the bench, they were ready because they know the system, they have experienced different situations and the connection is very quick. We have created within the squad a clear idea of how we want to use our players, who might be the starter, who will be the second one, and if you get the opportunity, get ready."

  19. Double injury blow for Farke's Leedspublished at 14:26 BST 2 October

Leeds v Spurs (Sat, 12:30 BST)

    Leeds United

There was confusion this week surrounding Dan James after Wales boss Craig Bellamy named the winger in his squad days amid noises from the Leeds camp that James had suffered a significant injury in training.

Farke cleared things up a few moments ago, saying the 27-year-old is out for 4-6 weeks after rolling his ankle in training.

"Realistically, we expect him back more or less in November," Farke said. "If he were available for one or two before then, it would be a bonus, a surprise. So he’s out for a few weeks, which is not great news"

It's a bad week to be a Leeds United winger, since Willy Gnonto will also miss the Spurs clash. Leeds were hopeful that a calf strain might have cleared up by now.

Farke said he was "pretty sure" Gnonto would be back in team training next week and back in contention for when the Premier League returns after the international break.

Meanwhile, Harry Gray's availability is in doubt after the youngster reported some problems with his hip flexor earlier this week, while Lucas Perri is back in training, though not fit to play on Saturday.

  20. 'It's a pleasure because it means that our collective performance is positive'published at 14:22 BST 2 October

Man United v Sunderland (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Sunderland

Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris also spoke about being a nominee for the Premier League manager-of-the-month award:

"It's a pleasure because it means that our collective performance is positive at the minute and we want to be competitive in the league.

"It's better to start with confidence and points and the feeling that we can be competitive in the league even if it's tough and every game is different. It's really clear that it is collective work and everyone has their own role and it's important to value, even the small tasks."
