Ayr manager Scott Brown tells BBC Scotland: "I thought we've played really well.

"They have scored with a flick on, but I thought we dominated a lot of the game.

"We had a couple of one-on-ones and didn't take the chances. They are all disappointed in the dressing room, but I am pleased with the way they played - it is the best we have played at home for a while.

"The disappointing thing is no goals in two games."

Of goalscorer Barney Stewart, Dunfermline assistant Iain Brunskill tells BBC Scotland: "He gives us something different. He has a physical presence and that was something we had missing at the start of the season.

"Barney's done great. I think that's three in three now. Fantastic lad, wants to get better."

As for a title challenge, he adds: "We have been in every game we've played. There have been spells in games we have fallen out of the game.

"Talent wise, we are as good as anyone, but we are a young team and that has cost us a bit at times."

Dunfermline Athletic captain Chris Hamilton tells BBC Scotland: "It was a wee bit backs to the wall at the end, but it was important we got back to winning ways. We need to kick on now."

Of goalscorer Barney Stewart, he adds: "He is a breath of fresh air. He was about two hours late for pre-match today because he went to the wrong hotel and then got stuck in traffic."

Hamilton adds that they might reduce his fine as a result of his winner!

On-loan Dunfermline striker Barney Stewart says Falkirk boss John McGlynn has been on the phone congratulating him for how he is doing with the Pars.

"We had to battle in the second when we should have been ahead more in the first," he says.

"It is quite a young team and we all have a point to prove."

Match winner - and player of the match - Barney Stewart tells BBC Scotland: "Unbelievable. I've never won a player of the match before - I've never deserved one.

"It is actually three in three. That's more goals than I got all last season.

"I am looking to push on from here and I probably should have scored more tonight as well."

It was fairly even. Dunfermline took their chance and Ayr failed to take theirs.

You have to credit Dunfermline defensively, they were excellent tonight.

Barney Stewart’s first-half header is the difference as Dunfermline Athletic pick up three points on their trip down to Ayr United.
