Is it really just a case of how many Arsenal will score?

Chris Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League matches again this season, against a variety of guests.

For this weekend's games, he takes on Sam McTrusty and Ross McNae from rock band Twin Atlantic.

Sutton's prediction: 0-3

Arsenal are wiping the floor with everyone in the Premier League at the moment. Like Liverpool and Manchester City, they can't afford any stumbles in the title race but I don't anticipate them having any problems winning at Bramall Lane.

They are so superior to a Sheffield United side that lost 5-0 at the Emirates earlier in the season, when Eddie Nketiah scored a hat-trick, and they are also in excellent form.

The Blades are not going to go toe-to-toe with Arsenal and their plan will just be to try to keep them out for as long as possible. If the Gunners score early, then it could be a difficult afternoon for Chris Wilder's side.

Former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas says the Gunners are "a little bit too strong to be dropping point" at Sheffield United, despite the pressure that comes with playing after their title rivals on Monday night.

"It shouldn’t [affect the players] but unfortunately, mentally, it works this way," he told the Planet Premier League podcast.

"I see Arsenal at the moment as too strong. I see them confident.

"I know they lost against Porto, but I think in the Premier League nowadays they are two levels up and I believe that they know exactly what they're doing.

"I'm sure they believe, and they’re pushing from the staff point of view to win this game more than anything because these games win titles.

"It's very different to go in my day to Stoke City on Saturday three o'clock then Monday night football.

"We go back to perceptions, the night time to approach the games, the travelling, the long wait for the game, these little things, knowing exactly what the opponents have done.

"If they have won they put pressure on you.

"There's a bit of everything but, at the moment, I see Arsenal a little bit too strong to be dropping points there.”

What a set of statistics - enough to strike fear into any club.

Arsenal have scored 25 goals in their last six Premier League games and Sheffield United have conceded five goals in each of their last three home games in all competitions.

Can anyone argue a case for Sheffield United here?

It would be quite the upset if the Premier League's bottom side could dent the Gunners' title chances tonight.

Thumbs up if you are expecting an away win?

• Arsenal have won the last three league fixtures against Sheffield United by an aggregate score of 10-1.
• The Gunners could win three successive away games against the Blades for the first time.

• Sheffield United have lost four of their last five league matches.
• They are in danger of becoming the first English league side to lose four consecutive home games in all competitions by conceding five or more goals.

• Arsenal are aiming for a seventh league win in a row.
• They have scored 25 goals in their six Premier League matches in 2024, an average of more than four a game.

Sheffield United pair Ben Brereton Diaz and George Baldock are back in full training and could make their return from injury against Arsenal.

Cameron Archer faces several weeks out with a calf issue, while Mason Holgate is serving a suspension.

Arsenal's Thomas Partey could make his first appearance since October after coming through training unscathed.

Oleksandr Zinchenko and Takehiro Tomiyasu will also be assessed and Gabriel Jesus could feature as well.

"He's fit enough, but knowing how long he will last is something different probably," said Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta of the Brazilian, who has been nursing a knee injury.

"Obviously we need him fit. He's a massive player for us and we want to make sure that now we load the players in the right way."

This is what he had to say on Phil Foden's performance, speaking on 5 Live Breakfast this morning.

"Everything he does just seems to be perfect at the moment: his first touch, his passing, the goals that he’s scoring, the assists that he’s making," said Dunne.

"He’s just got the complete game. He’s full of confidence.

"I think he’s enjoyed being the main man, the most important player for Man City, and he’s really stepped up. He was fantastic yesterday, which was just another game in a long list [of impressive performances] for him.”

Dan: Hi Simon. Surprised Rico Lewis is not mentioned. Outstanding talent. What do you think the future holds for him?

Simon: I think he is an excellent young talent and has proved to be capable of playing at the level City are at. I suspect the issue is consistency. It is natural a 19-year-old’s form will fluctuate – and at the level City operate at, you can’t afford to lose games, so if Pep Guardiola sees that, he will take him out for a period. That is not a reflection on Lewis’ abilities, it is to do with his development. I have said a few times recently, it is not that long ago Guardiola’s handling of Phil Foden was being questioned as he was on the bench and Jadon Sancho was playing regularly for Borussia Dortmund. Now look at the situation. With young players, you have to take the long view.

Chris: With all the players feigning head injuries to stop play when a break is on, wouldn't an off-field check for any player going down clutching their heads possibly put a stop to the fraudulent ones?

Simon: This is a very difficult one and something I suspect IFAB might end up amending the rules to counter. How can a referee tell if a player is feigning a head injury? Imagine if a referee refused to stop the game and it turned out the player really was hurt. It is the same with goalkeepers going down to create a tactical break in a game. Clubs should be reminded about this and told not to do it. But I am not entirely sure how you stop it.

Anon: With former Coventry City striker Viktor Gyökeres being heavily linked with Arsenal and a return to England, just a season after leaving but now with a whopping price tag, do Premier League teams really value the Championship as a viable transfer source or do they have to go abroad to make their name and double their value?

Simon: I think it depends which clubs you are talking about. Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney are just two examples of former EFL players who have excelled in the Premier League and could easily get big money moves to clubs of a higher standing than the ones they are at now (and I do know where Villa are and what their history is). However, I think jumping from the Championship to the Champions League is a massive ask. And given the sums involved, I think clubs at the top end tend to want to see how they handle playing every week at a higher level and also how they cope when they are exposed to European competition before committing to a transfer fee.
