Aston Villa

A final word from Unai Emery on Aston Villa's next opponents Luton, who go into Saturday's game at Kenilworth Road on the back of Tuesday's 6-2 defeat at home to Manchester City in the FA Cup.

He described them as "very difficult and very demanding" opponents, adding: "They're very aggressive and they play fantastic matches. I really appreciate how they're playing."

Aston Villa

Unai Emery said "everyday is special" at the moment as his Aston Villa side push for Champions League qualification and Europa Conference League success.

He added: "To have it in sight is really amazing, so we have to enjoy the way and be close with our supporters."

Emery said that he's not thinking ahead to next Thursday's match against Ajax because he "tries to focus on each match".

Aston Villa

And then there was one...

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery finishes today's marathon run of Premier League news conferences.

He started with some team news - Pau Torres and Ezri Konsa are included in tomorrow's squad but Emery said he "doesn't know yet" if they will be available to start the game.

Torres' muscle injury is "gradually getting better" but they will make the decision on Saturday morning based on whether they can play him "without risk".

Sheffield United and Burnley are 11 points from Premier League safety and look doomed with just 12 matches of the season remaining.

But who else is facing the threat of being relegated to the Championship? And which teams will stay up?

It looks like one from six, with eight points separating 18th-placed Luton and the five teams immediately above them - Nottingham Forest, Brentford, Everton, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace.

But it's complicated...

Both Everton and Forest face anxious waits after being charged in January for alleged breaches in their accounts for 2022-23.

Forest's case will be heard on Thursday 7 and Friday 8 March.

If they are found to have breached rules they face a points deduction. A verdict is not expected until April and would be subject to appeal.

Any appeal could take that process to 24 May, the week after the season concludes on 19 May.

In November, Everton were immediately docked 10 points for breaking profit and sustainability rules (PSR) in the three-year period to 2021-22.

However, that penalty was reduced to six points after an appeal.

Luton Town

Luton manager Rob Edwards on facing Aston Villa: "I’m looking forward to it. It’s a clear game for us and it’ll be different to the Manchester City and Liverpool games where there was lots of chaos.

"It’s not a must win but we know it’s an important game."

Luton Town

Luton manager Rob Edwards confirmed that Elijah Adebayo, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Gabe Osho will all be unavailable for the visit of Aston Villa. He added that Amari’i Bell will be given "as much time as possible "after the defender came off in the first half of Tuesday’s FA Cup tie against Manchester City with a slight hamstring issue. However, his replacement that night, Joe Johnson, will not be in contention to start as he has missed training since with illness.

Speaking more on the injury situation within the squad, Edwards said: "It’s a longer list than I’d like, but it’s an opportunity for other people to come in. I’m confident we can go into the game with a strong team."

England defender Eric Dier has triggered an option to make his move to Bayern Munich permanent this summer to signal the end of his Tottenham career.

Dier, 30, joined Bayern on loan until the end of the season in January after he fell out of favour at Spurs.

The deal included a clause which would activate a new 12-month contract at the Allianz Arena if he played a certain number of games at Bayern.

Dier's contract with Tottenham was set to expire on 30 June.

He has played six times for Thomas Tuchel's side, including four starts for the defending Bundesliga champions.

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on going two weeks without a game: "It hasn't been ideal. It has been a bit of a disjointed season for us. We have had a lot of stops and starts. We have got a couple of games now and then the international break. At least after that we will have some regular football until the end of the year."

On facing Crystal Palace under new manager Oliver Glasner: "It's always a bit of a challenge. In our scouting we try to get [an understanding] on the consistency of player [selection] by looking at recent games. With a new manager, things adjust naturally. You usually see that they have a positive effect [on the team performances] when a new man comes in.

"But I still think we are in a good stage in terms of our development. Our emphasis is more on us [rather than the opposition] - on how we are playing football and how we can bring commitment and energy in our game."

Tottenham Hotspur

We heard from Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou earlier on with news that Richarlison's injury will leave the forward sidelined for up to four weeks.

He was also asked how he felt his season had gone since their 2-1 win at Crystal Palace in October, which was followed by a damaging run of four defeats and one draw in their next five games:

"Mixed I would say. We had some challenges in there in terms of injuries and disruptions. In the most part we have been competitive. Has the football been at the same level as the start of the season? Probably not, but the lads' effort, will and determination has allowed us to be in position we are in."

On whether finishing in the top four in the Premier League is his main target: "We will try to keep going and finish the season strong, while also keep trying to develop the players and our game style. We will see how that takes us to the end of this season and, more importantly, how it sets us up for the future."

Manchester City's FA Cup quarter-final tie with Newcastle United will be shown live on BBC One on Saturday, 16 March.

Pep Guardiola's side, who won the competition last season, welcome the Magpies to Etihad Stadium at 17:30.

Chelsea's meeting with Championship leaders Leicester City will be shown live across the BBC on Sunday (12:45).

Manchester United also host Liverpool on Sunday and Wolves face Coventry City on Saturday, with both those ties to be shown on ITV.

Crystal Palace

More from Oliver Glasner on Crystal Palace's bid to end a run of four consecutive defeats against Tottenham: "I know the terrible record. What happens in the past must not always have to be in the future. We go there and we are preparing as well as we can."

On opposite number Ange Postecoglou: "Postecoglou has done a great job, they defend very high and are very aggressive. We go there with confidence and to try to take the three points."

West Ham United

West Ham manager David Moyes on team news: "Aaron Cresswell felt his calf and Achilles before the Brentford game, so we didn't want to risk him. He should be alright for this weekend.

"Maxwel Cornet pulled his hamstring a bit in training before the Brentford match. He might be out for a few weeks.

"At the moment they're the only two in the injury category."

Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi on setting targets for the rest of the season: "For sure the target is to beat Roma, if we are speaking about Europe so we can play in the quarter-final.

"In the Premier League, it's to keep this level. We want to reach the last five games of the season in this position in the table. To reach this target we need more players in terms of numbers and not many injuries otherwise it will be tough.

"If you watch the game against Wolves, [Simon] Adingra didn't play well. It wasn't because he's not a good player or because of his attitude, but maybe he is tired. Facundo [Buonanotte] is the same, Pascal Gross suffered cramp at the end of the game. Lewis Dunk can't play 90 minutes every three days. So to make substitutions I need to have more players available."

Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi on team news: "Tariq Lamptey and Joel Veltman are available to play. Evan Ferguson as well.

"Welbeck played 45 minutes but he can play part of the game. I'm very, very happy."

Asked if he is relieved to have key players back from injury, De Zerbi said: "It's part of football. We move on and we aim to play better to try and win the game tomorrow. We want to stay at this level in the table and to do this we must win.

The focus is to win the game tomorrow and that means we must play with fresh players. I will change something in the first 11 but not thinking about Roma [in the Europa League], I'll think about Roma on Monday morning. For now, the focus is on the Premier League."

Fulham

Fulham manager Marco Silva on facing Brighton: "We have to be aggressive in some moments, organised in others.

"After a good performance [to beat Manchester United], we want to continue in this way and the three points are in our mind."

Fulham

Fulham manager Marco Silva on team news: "Raul Jimenez is still out, not in contention for the game. Joao [Palhinha], as you know, is suspended. All other players will be available."

Burnley

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany on Bournemouth's form, having failed to win in six across all competitions: "We are dealing with a similar situation or have dealt with a similar situation. The main thing now is we have to visualise ourselves winning these types of games. We have to attach the feeling that they are a very good side but we need the ambition to go and win.

"We've learned that the Premier League has no easy games and it will be no different on the weekend."

On upcoming fixtures: "We have to look at every game as an opportunity. We can't be selective. Firstly, there's a game at the weekend and that, for now, is the only one that matters."

Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola on relegation-threatened Burnley: "They've changed their approach a bit. They aren't risking so much and they are more direct.

"They have introduced players who are playing very well, such as [Wilson] Odobert, [David Datro] Fofana and [Lorenz] Assignon who give them other things."

On whether he feels a trip to Turf Moor will be challenging: "It's not going to be an easy game, It cost us a lot to win here at home.

"We have to forget what happened in the cup, physically recover and make an effort for the third time in a week."
