Burnley manager Vincent Kompany on how preparations have gone: "The aftermath of losing a game of that importance [3-0 against Crystal Palace], 24 hours is not a good 24 hours, and then you go back to work and looking at what the next game can offer.

"[Solving problems] is part of what I like. Injecting belief and giving the players something to help them is something I'm passionate about. It's not easy but I was warned a long time before I made the decision to become a coach that this is part of the job."

Have you injected a lot of belief?: "You always have to. It's not about being in a difficult situation or not. It's easier when you have belief yourself and I have that."

Brentford v Chelsea (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Brentford

Brentford manager Thomas Frank on their strong record against Chelsea, winning three and drawing one in the last four meetings: "I've faced four different Chelsea managers. That means there is nothing in our form against them, it's random. I'm happy we won those games but every game is a new story. I'm not an expert in Chelsea, Pochettino is, but they look like they will have close to their strongest 11."

"What I believe is players need to find their own way to work out what makes them click. It's my responsibilty to guide them. I get a lot of questions about this so, of course, I've spoken to Neal about this. He needs to do what is important and I need to guide him."

  9. Frank 'feeling optimistic'published at 14:10 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2024

Brentford v Chelsea (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Brentford

Brentford manager Thomas Frank on winning just two of their last 12 games in the Premier League: "We were in a 12 game unbeaten run and everyone thought 'wow Brentford are so good.' It's still the same staff, owner and players. Why is it now that we lost 10 of the last 12? Sometimes not good performances, sometimes things go against us and also injuries.

"I've got potentially seven starters out. I've got a good squad but it's the depth in some key positions that makes it tough. That's life and it's up to me and the players to find a way out. We are ready to fight and we need the fans. One thing I can promise is we will probably lose one more game before the end of the season but we'll also win some.

"I'm very optimistic. I'm a massive fighter and my players are massive fighters. When things are going againts you, there's only one thing to do and that's pull together. We need the fans massively as well so I can't wait for tomorrow.

"It's about us and we need to perform. I said against West Ham, we didn't hit a good enough level. In other matches we were at the level but just didn't get the result. I know we will perform tomorrow."

"Richy is disappointed because he's been a key contributor, but that has been how our season has gone.

"With Sess, it is a tough one. He has worked hard to come back and it is always more challenging when it happens as a series of events."

Is it a tough decision to make?: "It's always tough when you can only pick 11 because everyone is excited to play but you have 18, 19 or 20 players.

"We always make decisions based on previous analysis and because we think it's right for different circumstances."

  13. 'Very impressive what Howe has achieved'published at 14:01 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2024

Newcastle v Wolves (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Wolves

A final word from Wolves boss Gary O'Neil on his opposite number at Newcastle: "I know Eddie [Howe] fairly well. Our paths have crossed quite a bit and I have had conversations with the Bournemouth staff on the really impressive work he did there. It was incredible to go from where they did and then sustain them in the Premier League - for any club of that size.

"At Newcastle, it could have been seen as a good job, where he could spend loads and improve them fairly easily, but has had to cope with a lot, including expectations. It's very impressive, he has done great work.

"I have been able to look at him, as a young manager coming up. It is very impressive what he has been able to achieve."

  14. 'Newcastle have suffered'published at 13:58 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2024

Newcastle v Wolves (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Wolves

Wolves manager Gary O'Neil on why he has sympathy for Newcastle over their injury problems: "They have suffered really badly with injury. I know how I have felt when we have had injuries. Ours have only been one or two at a time, but because of the size of our squad it feels like it has a big impact. Newcastle have suffered far more than that because they have had injuries to some key players. If you want to challenge in this league you need your key players available. They have had a tough time, especially with those extra games played in Europe. I have seen matches when they just didn't look like themselves, but a lot of those players are now coming back and I am sure they will now return to form."

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

La Liga chief Javier Tebas has been a long-standing opponent of 'state' clubs and countries using football to improve their global image.

It seemed strange therefore when La Liga confirmed in August that ‘Visit Saudi’ had become s a global commercial partner:

“It is not the same Saudi Arabia as it was in 2021," Tebas explained.

"What about Formula One, LIV golf, the World Padel Tour? The Italian and Turkish (football) Super Cups? I saw Tyson Fury fight there.

"You can always use a snapshot from 2021 (when Tebas said Saudi Arabia were trying to improve their image through sport) but times change.

"It is like the (United Arab) Emirates was 10 years ago. Saudi Arabia is going in the same direction.”

Brentford v Chelsea (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino on Myhailo Mudryk playing a central role on Wednesday against Leeds and whether he might play there more often: "It was a good opportunity with four offensive players like Raheem [Sterling], [Noni] Madueke and Nicolas [Jackson] to try and help him be more connected in the game.

"I was happy with him. He finished the game on the left side but it was good for him to have an opportunity to play there. It forced him to be more involved and read the game in a different way to when he plays out wide."

Man City v Man Utd (Sun, 15:30 GMT)

    Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola closed his news conference with a question on why he felt successive managers had failed to guide Manchester United to the Premier League title: "In the big clubs you have to win. It is not easy for United, who have come through an incredibly successful period with Sir Alex [Ferguson]. To cope with that is not easy. Sometimes I can understand it. With the big clubs, before they had more patience with their managers but today everyone has a lot of pressure. But I don't know the reason why, as I'm not there."
