Evan Ferguson joined Roma on a season-long loan from Brighton in July
Evan Ferguson scored his first Serie A goal to help Roma secure a comfortable victory at Cremonese.
The Republic of Ireland striker, who joined on a season-long loan from Brighton in July, scored Roma's second goal four minutes after coming off the bench, guiding a shot into the bottom corner from inside the penalty area.
Ferguson scored four goals on his Roma debut - in a 9-0 pre-season friendly against Serie D side UniPomezia - but had not scored in a competitive game for Gian Piero Gasperini's side.
Matias Soule and Wesley Franca were also on target for Roma, while Francesco Folino scored a consolation for Cremonese deep into stoppage time at Stadio Giovanni Zini.
Victory lifted Roma to the top of the table, but Inter Milan will replace them if they beat city rivals AC Milan later on Sunday.
Ferguson was making his return from an ankle injury which kept him out of Roma's three games before the international break.
He is attempting to rebuild his career after losing form and dropping down the pecking order at Brighton.
His only goal last season came more than a year ago against Wolves.
Ferguson has featured in eight of Roma's 12 league games and three of their four Europa League matches this season.
Former Leicester striker Jamie Vardy, who has scored two goals for Cremonese this season, played the full 90 minutes.
