Peterborough put in a dazzling performance during their 5-1 victory over Blackpool in the week and will be hoping to do the same as they visit Bolton Wanderers.

Ninth-place Stockport and 10th-placed Lincoln will be battling it out for a win at Sincil Bank after the Hatters ended their Tuesday with a third successive league draw, while the Imps will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after losing to Crawley Town in the week.

Speaking of the Devils, now that the Reds have put a stop to their six match loss streak they will be aiming to build a winning one when they make the trip to Sixfields to play 19th-placed Northampton Town.

Rotherham and Stevenage will be hoping to bounce back from their respective losses as Shrewsbury, in 22nd, take on the challenge of hosting Barnsley.

Meanwhile, Wycombe Wanderers survived a scare against winless Burton Albion on Tuesday, who had equalised twice before the Chairboys rose to a 3-2 win, but extended their nine-match unbeaten run and will be in search of a fourth successive win against Leyton Orient.

The Jam topped the charts with Town Called Malice the last time Charlton welcomed Wrexham to the Valley in February 1982.

In truth the capital has not provided too much malice for the Red Dragons of late - Wrexham are on their best run against London sides in 30 years, taking 11 points from their past five games.

Though they have begun brightly following promotion from League Two, Phil Parkinson’s side have been far better at the Stok Cae Ras than they have on the road, scoring only four goals in six away games and claiming eight points – three of those in a 1-0 success at Rotherham last Saturday.

On Friday, Parkinson moved to negate a growing injury list with the signings of experienced EFL duo Matty James and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson.

The Addicks are also better at home than on their travels, claiming 11 points from six matches, which included eye-catching wins over Birmingham and Bolton.

Nathan Jones’ men thought they’d grabbed a 93rd minute winner at Barnsley on Tuesday which would have taken them fifth, only to allow an equaliser two minutes later.

Wrexham’s stalemate with Huddersfield the same night means they are now four points adrift of Birmingham, having played a game more, and a win is the aim this afternoon as they seek to maintain a blistering pace in the title race.

A fourth successive league win against Exeter City - it's something that has evaded Huddersfield Town up to this point and they will be out to claim it as they host the Grecians this afternoon.

2012 was the last time these two met. It marked Simon Grayson's first game at the helm for Huddersfield in a term that he led to promotion to the second tier via a 22 penalty shoot-out win against Sheffield United in the play-offs.

This time round the Yorkshire outfit are eyeing a similar outcome to their season - a return to the Championship. They currently sit in fifth place on a three league match unbeaten streak but biting at their heels is today's opponents.

Exeter are level with the Terriers on points and goal difference with a game in hand. There's nothing in it between the two clubs meaning there's a whole lot to gain if one can take the three points.

The Grecians lost last time out in 2-1 close encounter with Reading but given that it was their first loss in over a month, they will be fancying their chances in getting ahead.

Winger Ilmari Niskanen is certainly feeling his after scoring his first for the club after 46 appearances, prompting "a huge boost in confidence". Can he steal away Huddersfield's hopes of that elusive fourth win in a row?

Cambridge head coach Garry Monk found similarities between his team and Burton Albion, suggesting both teams will feel 'better than their league position':

“It’s been a good week so far, but it’s only two games, two really good games which is great, but we have to earn the right to put ourselves in the position to win the game.

“We’ve watched a lot of them [Burton Albion] and they’ll have a similar feeling to us in terms of feeling like they’re much better than their league position. Looking at their games, they’ve deserved more points than they’ve got.

"They’re a very good team so we’ll have to be ready and really prepared for that expectation, but also make sure we earn the right to be able to get those points again.”

League One’s bottom-two lock-horns in an eagerly anticipated clash at the Abbey Stadium - though the context around the game has changed enormously in the past seven days.

Last Saturday lunchtime both these sides remained winless, with mounting pressure on United manager Garry Monk (pictured) and Brewers boss Mark Robinson.

By Wednesday morning the Us had won back-to-back games while Burton had lost two more, leading to Robinson’s departure after just 14 games at the helm.

Former Fulham Academy coach Tom Hounsell is in interim charge this afternoon for Burton, who are winless in seven on the road since April, taking just three points, and having conceded two or more goals in six of those games.

Cambridge overcame Wigan last time out infront of their own fans and are seeking to win back-to-back home games for the first time since December 2023.

Port Vale continue to set the pace at the top of League and will look to make it five wins on the bounce at home to AFC Wimbledon.

The top scorers in the whole of the EFL are Walsall. Saddlers fans haven't had it so good in well, let's just say quite a few years and leave it at that. Today they go to an Accrington Stanley side who, after a sticky start have won three of their past five games.

Notts County's storming start has stuttered in recent matches with last minute David McGoldrick goals in two of the last three salvaging draws. This afternoon they meet inconsistent Harrogate Town.

Crewe Alexandra are once again up in the top seven and with one defeat in eight games will fancy the job at home to goal shy Tranmere Rovers.

Making up the play-off places at the moment are Grimsby Town but they have lost their last two at home as they welcome MK Dons to Blundell Park.

With just one point from a possible nine, Barrow have hit a bump in the road and it's a very long road to Bromley today with Andy Woodman's side having scored an excellent win at Doncaster on Tuesday.

Two play-off pretenders meet in South Wales with Newport County up against Fleetwood Town and Cheltenham Town's mini revival takes them to rock bottom Carlisle United.

A real top of the table here at Valley Parade. Bradford City and Doncaster Rovers are very much among the pacesetters in League Two and both are trying to close the gap on table topping Port Vale.

These two sit fifth and fourth respectively and both Graham Alexander and Grant McCann have really galvanised their squads and they are playing some great football.

Both sides didn't manage a midweek win with Bradford getting a point at Cheltenham and Doncaster suffered a shock home defeat 1-0 against Bromley.

Bradford are on a pretty good run at home with four wins and two draws from their six matches on home soil so Doncaster may have their work cut out but in Luke Molyneux they have a player in great form having scored five goals already this season.

Andy Cook will be looking to add to his impressive goal tally for Bradford and he could be the Bantams main threat in what looks to be a mouthwatering clash in League Two.

From top to 11th in four weeks, that's the tale of the tape for Gillinghamwhere five defeats in a row have, at least momentarily, seen HMS Promotion run aground and they head to Swindon who sacked Mark Kennedy in the week and replaced him with Ian Holloway.

The new boss will have a watching brief today before taking the Wiltshire wheel on Monday.

Holloway is 11 games from getting to the magic 1,000 in management but has taken on a Swindon side with just two league wins all season and whose fans are not exactly in love with the club's ownership at the moment.

As for the Gills, their poor run of form has caught everyone by surprise including manager Mark Bonner.

Goals were a big problem for the Kent side last season with only relegated Forest Green scoring fewer in League Two - their recent run has seen them manage just two in five matches.

A goal up and the opposition down to 10 men. I've got to say it's not the best way to see a game out. We made mistake after mistake, but we got away with it in the end.

Like we said when your down to 10 the best opportunity will probably be a set play. It was the goalkeeper who had the chance with the flick on.

There were a couple of other balls knocking about in the penalty area. You just can't believe we were begging for the final whistle.

It may not be a bad point gained, in the bigger picture they will still be top of the league after this game.

Mansfield in the first half were outplayed, out-thought. It probably could of two or three and it should of been, but it wasn't.

The second half, Mansfield changed their formation and they were a lot more direct and I have to say Blues didn't cope with it very well. But we still had enough opportunities to win that game.

I thought we looked shaky defensively, when they put us under physical pressure - the second half we were hanging on.

Reading's teeth weren't exactly sharp but big enough to take a bite out of Bristol Rovers, whose last ditch efforts from their 10 men were denied by some superb Joel Castro Pereira saves.

It could have been a different story had Shaq Forde kept his cool and not needlessly seen himself sent off with a second yellow card early in the second-half.

Gas boss Matt Taylor will doubtlessly have some harsh words for him on the way back to Bristol but plenty of praise for his remaining men.

Rovers gave it everything. Forcing Pereira into a handful of saves to see them head home without points but with at least their heads held high after a strong fightback.

As for Reading, they go to fifth and put themselves firmly in the chase as potential promotion contenders.

Salford grab their first away win of the season as Colchester's home woes continue.

It was pretty drab stuff at the Community Stadium with neither side producing a shot on target in the first-half.

The visitors nabbed the lead just past the hour mark as Kylian Kouassi nodded across goal for Kelly N'Mai to finish at the far post.

Danny Cowley rang the changes for Colchester and substitute Harry Anderson levelled at the second time of asking after his first effort had been saved by Jamie Jones.

But that was far from the cue for the home side to push on as Kouassi found space on the edge of the area with 13 minutes to go and his shot deflected off Mandela Egbo to beat Matt Macey.

It's just 10 wins from 41 home league games for the Essex side now and they are six without a win this season.

For Salford it's back-to-back wins, three unbeaten and signs of things beginning to come together for Karl Robinson.
