  1. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:51 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Ballymena United 0-2 Ards

A chorus of boos rings out among the home support as we're 45 minutes away from a significant upset at the Showgrounds.

With manager Jim Ervin suspended, assistant boss Stefan Seaton will have to deliver a big team talk to get the Premiership side back into this one.

  2. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:50 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Carrick Rangers 3-3 Newry City

Diarmuid Harrigan blows the half-time whistle and brings a close to a remarkable 45 minutes of action at Taylors Avenue.

All was looking great for Newry as they hit the net twice in the opening 20 minutes.

However, in the space of five minutes of madness, Carrick pulled level, Newry went ahead again and the hosts equalised in reply.

It has been absolutely frenetic and a a great watch for the neutral, but it's fair to assume that Stephen Baxter and Darren Mullen won't be happy with the atrocious defending on display at both ends of the pitch.

  3. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:49 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Limavady United 0-0 Larne

It's as you were at half-time at the Showgrounds, neither side able to fashion a goal.

The home side, second in the Championship, have acquitted themselves well against the reigning Premiership champions in a dogged encounter.

Hopefully, we see a little more action after half-time.

  4. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:49 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Ballymacash Rangers 0-2 Ballinamallard United

The Mallards lead at the break through Aaron Harkin and Alex Holder.

  5. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:49 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Bangor 1-1 Newington

    All square at Clandeboye.

It has been an even game so far with Bangor taking an early lead through Michael Morgan, but Newington struck back through Robbie Morrow to leave it all to play for in the second half.

  6. Postpublished at 15:49 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Ballymena United 0-2 Ards

Ards break quickly again and Lee Newell cuts inside defender Daithi McCallion to create a shooting chance but he puts his effort straight at goalkeeper Sean O'Neill.

  7. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:48 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Cliftonville 1-0 Banbridge Rangers

Ryan Corrigan's goal separates the sides at the break after a pretty dull opening period.

The Reds have had all the chances at Solitude, but have been wayward with their finishing.

  8. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:48 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Dungannon Swifts 2-0 Rathfriland Rangers

It's been plain sailing for Premiership side Dungannon Swifts so far with goals from Brandon Bermingham and Adam Glenny giving them the lead at the break.

  9. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:47 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Annagh United 2-1 Portadown

Half-time here and the Ports fans are letting their team know what they think of them after a first half where they started the better side in the opening ten minutes but have very much been second best since then.

Niall Currie will have some choice words at the break, I am sure.

  10. Watch: Evans puts Annagh aheadpublished at 15:47 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Annagh United 2-1 Portadown

In almost a carbon copy of the first goal, Jack Evans puts Annagh in front at the BMG Arena.

    Dungannon Swifts 2-0 Rathfriland Rangers

Steven Maguire makes a diving save to stop Tomas Galvin's powerful strike from range.

That was a huge opportunity for Rodney McAree's side to extend their lead before the break.

  13. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:46 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Linfield 2-0 Wellington Rec

The Blues go in at the break two goals to the good thanks to a Matthew Fitzpatrick header and Robbie McDaid close-range effort.

  18. Postpublished at 15:43 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Cliftonville 1-0 Banbridge Rangers

Taylor Steven bends a free-kick well over the crossbar from range.

Minutes later he blasts another one well off target.

Safe to say it is not his day in front of goal thus far.

  19. goal

GOAL - Linfield 2-0 Wellington Recpublished at 15:43 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Robbie McDaid (44 mins)

Linfield double their lead just before the break through Robbie McDaid!

Kirk Millar's cross is fumbled by Wellington Rec goalkeeper Jack Ferguson, with the ball falling to McDaid at the back post to fire home from a yard out.

On his first start since 18th February 2023, McDaid scores his first goal in almost exactly two years.

  20. Postpublished at 15:41 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Carrick Rangers 3-3 Newry City

We've gone almost 10 minutes without a goal at Taylors Avenue, which feels like a lifetime given the nature of the game.

Carrick are applying pressure and look the more likely side to grab the next goal, but Newry have been clinical on the counter attack today.
