Tom Ince scored a hat-trick as Watford breezed past MK Dons 5-0 in the Carabao Cup to go into the hat for the second-round draw.

The winger added to Mattie Pollock’s first Hornets goal to put the home side in command at half-time.

League Two MK Dons briefly rallied in the second half but Germany under-18 international Kwadwo Baah scored on his debut as Watford re-asserted their dominance.

Ince added two more inside five minutes as Tom Cleverley’s side added to their opening-day Championship win at Millwall on Saturday.

Watford handed a debut to Republic of Ireland Under-21 international Roco Vata, and goalkeeper Jonathan Bond played the first game of his second spell at the club after rejoining them from LA Galaxy.

The Championship side were in charge from the off, and after Pollock’s looping header opened the scoring, Ince doubled the lead in first-half added time with a simple tap-in at the far post after Ryan Andrews had got behind the Dons defence and laid it on a plate for him.

Yasser Larouci, on loan from French club Troyes, did the hard work to tee up 21-year-old Baah for his first goal for the club after two seasons spent on loan at Fortuna Dusseldorf and Burton Albion.

Ince finished off the rout, bringing the ball down to drill in the fourth and then completing his hat-trick by snapping up a rebound off the goalkeeper.
