West Ham United have lost their last nine WSL games and could record just the fifth streak of 10+ consecutive defeats by a side in the competition (Yeovil Town x2, Doncaster Rovers x1 and Leicester City x1).

It could not have been a worse start to Gareth Taylor's tenure at Liverpool. Six played, six lost, zero points and only three goals scored.

To boot the side have lost three key players since last term; Olivia Smith to a world record fee from Arsenal, and Marie-Therese Hobinger and Sophie Roman-Haug to long term ACL injuries.

Perhaps the arrival of Brighton to Merseyside, a team that have lost 12 of their last 15 on the road, could provide the perfect opportunity for the Reds to finally get off the mark?

The Seagulls have lost their last three league games, although they did push Manchester United all the way in a thrilling 3-2 defeat last time out.

Liverpool have won the last five meetings between the sides, and will be hoping that run continues today.

West Ham United

Defender Amber Tysiak is optimistic that the Hammers can get points on the board against Leicester.

“There’s a feeling in the group that we’ve reset now after being with our national teams. The performance we had was good to start this month, [and now we need to] just go for it," she said.

"If we can play well against City, we have no excuse to not do it against teams who are in and around us in the table.”

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham have started strongly and are currently fifth in the table, but goalkeeping coach Chris Williams says his side are taking it one game at a time.

Speaking in a pre-match news conference as head coach Martin Ho was absent, he said: “We only focus on the game that's in front of us at this moment in time because there are three points on the table for us this weekend that we can potentially pick up. It's not as easy as just going and picking them up, we have to be in the right mindset, we have to have the right mentality and approach.

"But the feel within the group is really good and the building over there is bouncing. Obviously we're picking up points along the way, which is good for us, but I think that ‘one week at a time’ approach is the important way of doing it. We're not taking our eye off the ball that's right in front of us, and not looking too far ahead.”

Three of the four players to record 10+ shots without scoring in the Women’s Super League so far this season play for West Ham United: Riko Ueki (13), Shekiera Martinez (11) and Katrina Gorry (10) (also Chelsea’s Catarina Macário – 12).

That has to change today if the Hammers are to finally get a result in the league.

Alessia Russo's late equaliser for Arsenal means Chelsea now two points clear at the top of the table, but having played a game more than second-placed Manchester City.

Gunners boss Renee Slegers was left infuriated after a potential Stina Blackstenius goal was controversially disallowed for handball.

In Saturday's other game, Manchester United suffered their first defeat of the season as Miri Taylor's first-half strike gave Aston Villa a gritty victory.

Leicester boss Rick Passmoor makes three changes from their 4-1 loss to Arsenal.

Emily van Egmond, Noemie Mouchon and Hlin Eiriksdottir come in for Janice Cayman, Jutta Rantala and Shannon O'Brien.

Liverpool have had a number of injuries this season and will have to do without defender Gemma Bonner this afternoon.

She has been ruled out following a clash of heads in training this week, while Alejandra Bernabe is set to be available.

There is some good news for Liverpool, though. Mia Enderby, who went to hospital with a suspected neck injury last weekend, is okay and has been in training.

Liverpool boss Gareth Taylor makes just one change to his side after their 2-1 loss to Tottenham last week as Jenna Clark takes the place of Gemma Evans in defence.

Mia Enderby is fit to start having recovered from a neck injury sustained last week, while forward Leanne Kiernan returns on the bench.

The visitors are notably without loanee Michelle Agyemang for the first time this season after she suffered an ACL injury in England’s 3-0 victory over Australia.
