Kjetil Knutsen for me. Has done wonders at Bodo/Glimt and would be comfortable with our budgetary restraints.

We are also getting a lot of messages calling for Celtic to appoint Kjetil Knutsen.

The 57-year-old has been head coach of Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt since 2018, and has won four national titles with the club during that spell.

His name has been brought up the national tabloids' gossip pages, having previously been linked with Leeds United and rivals Rangers last season.

Knutsen guided his side to a Europa League semi-final last campaign against Spurs, becoming the first team from Norway to reach a major European semi-final.

Knutsen's name has tended to come up whenever a Premier League managerial vacancy arises.

Bodo/Glimt's technical director, Havard Sakariassen, was asked earlier this year about speculation of his departure.

"He's probably had some really good offers along the way and should he for some reason decide to do something else I think we should applaud him to the airport and say thank you," he told BBC Sport in April.

Another former striker in the frame is ex-Manchester United man Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Norwegian was most recently with Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas but was sacked in August of this year after just seven months in charge with the side failing to qualify for European football.

Prior to that, he has had two spells with Molde, a short period at Cardiff City and three years at Manchester United, where he led them to a second-placed Premier League finish, plus a Europa League final.

The Herald, external are reporting that Celtic have placed Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna on a list of potential candidates.

McKenna guided Ipswich from League One to the Premier League, but was relegated from the top flight last season.

They haven't got off to the best of starts back in the Championship either, currently 12th in the table having won just four of their 11 league fixtures.

The 39-year-old has previously attracted attention from Brighton and Chelsea, but last year signed a new contract with Ipswich until 2028, which, the Herald reported, made him one of the highest paid managers in English football.

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker is among the favourites for the role, according to the gossip.

He does have a slight connection already to Celtic having had a successful loan spell with the club in 2010.

Since calling it a day on his playing career, the Irishman immediately dived into the world of management.

Starting off as a player-coach with Indian side ATK, Keane then spent a season with Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv and as of January of this year, has been in charge of Hungarian club, Ferencvaros.

Sandwiched in between these, he has had assistant management spells at Middlesbrough, Leeds United and Republic of Ireland.

Shaun Maloney is another name familiar to Celtic fans.

The former midfielder had two spells as a player at the club and also joined the academy team as a coach upon his retirement from playing.

Another coaching role with the Belgium national side followed before he jumped into his first full-time management gig with Hibernian in 2021, but he was sacked after just four months in charge.

In January 2023, he joined another one of his former sides, Wigan, as manager but was dismissed in March of this year having won 42 of his 115 games in charge.

Ange Postecoglou spoke about how much he would "cherish" the memories he made in his first spell at Celtic when asked about his time there in first news conference as Tottenham manager.

The 60-year-old Australian also spoke about his love of a "rebuild":

"We had some fantastic success and great moments within that and I'll cherish them, but I am the kind of guy who always loves a challenge - I love a build, I love a rebuild.

"It is a special football club and if you've got a bucket list as a manger of football clubs you probably want to manage that would be one of them, because the supporters are not really supporters - the club is an extension of them as a family.

"We had a brilliant two years, a great group of players, great staff."

Former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou is the man many are tipping to take the job.

The 60-year-old Australian won a league and cup double in 2021-22 - his first season in charge at Parkhead - and followed that up with a treble in his second season, adding the League Cup to another league title and Scottish Cup.

Postecoglou left Celtic in 2023 to take the Tottenham manager's job, where he won the Europa League last season.

His attacking style of play came under serious scrutiny during his time at Spurs, leading to Postecoglou's sacking in the summer, while his subsequent 39-day tenure at Nottingham Forest has further blotted his copybook.

But 'Big Ange' remains popular with Celtic supporters and former striker Chris Sutton said he would be a "smart appointment".
